08-09 Auditions

Had a whole message typed then the site said it didn’t know me. So, just in case both post, this is a synopsis.

LOVE B-W! WILL WORK WITH VICKIE PROFESSIONALLY SOME DAY–ON MY TO DO LIST!

Didn’t get into B-W after wait-list. Didn’t get into a lot of places. Couldn’t understand it. Think I was way too serious–about everything. Got bummed.

Then sent 40 green head shots to Regional Auditions (think Elphaba’s brother)-- too depressed to get printer working right and didn’t really care. Got another college rejection day before Regionals – called in sick and bagged Regionals – sick and tired of auditioning, didn’t they understand how serious I was about this and how hard I would work? WHAT DID THEY WANT???

Cell phone starts ringing–had to stop answering it “Yo!” Tons of directors who had my green head shot and resume from regionals. Asking me to come see them. Job offers of all kinds – my choice of summer MT work (and longer if I wanted to postpone college).

Went to college – first week of school 1st semester main stage try-outs. Huge numbers of people auditioning, including MFA candidates. Scared to death–college programs don’t want me, remember! AHHHHH! I MADE CALL-BACKS–AS A FRESHMAN!!!

SO, if you didn’t get in – or were wait-listed–my advice for the rest of the auditions–have fun, really! I know it costs a lot of money, etc., to audition, but don’t let all that worry you–let loose and do it!

And hello to my peeps at B-W!

well mtman, where did you end up going to college??

IU! Guess I should change my name to HoosierMTMan? lol

Hello! I auditioned in November, I got waitlisted. Although I was dissapointed I contacted Vicky and asked what I should work on. She said my song and monologue choices were great and that I sang beautifully, but i was lacking dance experience. They are focusing a lot more on dance.

I was accepted to the Summer Intensive last summer and loved it, I recommend it to everyone.
4 girls got accepted
2 guys got accepted

and one of my friends goes to a performing arts school in PA and got accepted.

So vicky accepted at least 7 from early auditon.

If anyone has any questions about the audition or the intensive I would be glad to answer. I love Baldwin Wallace and wish I had gotten accepted, but thats life.

Good luck to everyone else!

Could you tell us what they had you do at the dance audition? Thanks!

mtfamily:
The dance combo at BW was very simple. It occured at the end of the audition day in the Rec Building if im not mistaken. It was jazz, I honestly dont remember specifics, but I do remember it being easy. I dont not consider myself a dancer by any means, and I was fine. You should be too!

I was also at the audition in November. The dance call is taught VERY fast, but the steps themselves are not difficult. Just go with it no matter what and have a good time. There is plenty of room to show your personality even if you don’t get all the steps!

Good luck!

I do agree with musicislife  the dance was taught fast, and it was taught in a huge vast space, which made it difficult to hear and see the teacher. Make sure you place yourself front and center, foucs, and smile! You’ll be fine!

Hi saw you were from Pittsburgh and interested in theatre. Do you know any info. on how the program at Point Park is? We did not get into our first school and looking to expand the search for musical theatre programs. Thank you

Accepted from November auditions:)

Congratulations-you should be proud to be accepted to a great program!
