<p>I just finished my Pratt engineering essay, but it’s 4 paragraphs long.</p>
<p>The first paragraph is one line, though. Will this make a big difference in terms of the application process?</p>
<p>Character-wise, it’s ~315, but I don’t want to come off as someone who can’t follow instructions.</p>

Suggestion: can you use the one line “paragraph” as the essay title? Otherwise incorporate it into the first paragraph. On the other hand, I don’t think the admissions staff is going to toss your essay aside merely because it has an extra line. They want to get to know you a little better. You’ll be fine. The greater error would be to write a 1+ page essay. Don’t stress over it!</p>
<p>I had the exact same issue. I left it as it was (my one-sentence/basically one line paragraph was the last one).</p>
