Such a tragedy - my thoughts are with all of those affected by this violence. My son is at tOSU so was there for the vehicle/machete attack that occurred in late November. It is so frightening. However in both cases local law enforcement had the situation under control relatively quickly which is something to be thankful for.
Terrible. I hope the students that are injured recover quickly.
The parents of the dead student are living a nightmare. How do you even wrap your mind around your child being murdered?
This sounds like a sad case of a young man with severe mental health issues. Tragic that an innocent bystander had to pay the ultimate price and others are also severely impacted. Can’t imagine the grief of the parents. They live in a community near our lake house (we sold last summer). Just heartbreaking.
We have a mental health crisis in this country. So very sad for all involved.
I just read an article that as he lay there he asked another student to call his mom. She called her, but he died before they could speak. I nearly lost it right then and there in the check-out of the grocery store. As I took a breath to not cry in public, both kids just happened to text me at the same exact time. And my son rarely, if ever texts out of the blue. I don’t know what’s happening in this world for this to become common place, but I don’t like it one bit.
I was actually going to class when this happened! It was really scary since everyone thought it was a gunman at first and we all ran inside a random building and hid until we got a text alert saying it was okay to come out. GroupMe was also causing a lot of fear since fake news was spreading everywhere (someone was breaking into dorm rooms/apartments and stabbing people, targeting frat/sorority members, etc)
