1 night in Pittsburgh - what to do?

In Pittsburgh for a weekday night. Unfortunately will miss the Pirates (on the road) so can’t check out PNC Park. What other fun things are there for a family to do?

Since you have such brief time-just roam around the city, take the incline. It’s a great city-lots of nice neighborhoods like Oakland (Pitt and CMU), Shadyside.

You might want to check out Station Square. There are a bunch of restaurants and shops there, it’s right on the river and gives you a great view of Pittsburgh. The incline is right there as well!

There is also a new casino if you like that sort of thing, which I do. I would also suggest a local restaurant that has several locations including one in the Strip District. Not sure what happens on the strip during the week, it is a shopping/dining area with lots of outdoor stands, it is awesome. You have to try Primanti Brothers, they have been featured on the food network. You choose any kind of meat, fish, hamburger, corned beef, whatever you choose, then they put french fries and cole slaw on the sandwich. They are wonderful and we always try to fit in a visit to Primanti’s whenver we are in the Burgh. Not sure how young are the members of your family but the Heinz museum is really nice so is the Planitarium and the Aviary.

Unfortunately, none of the attractions (History Center, Aviary, Science center) mentioned are open past 5 PM. The art/natural history museum is open until 8 on Thursdays though.

Are the Pirates in town? PNC Park is supposed to be pretty nice.

From Station Square, mentioned above, you can also take a cruise up and down the rivers:
[Pittsburgh Tours and River Boat Cruises](http://www.gatewayclipper.com/cruises.asp)

If you come from somewhere that doesn’t have an amusement park, Kennywood is open. You may also want to check out what’s on at the theatre district.

The Carnegie Museum is amazing. Go. I was there a year ago. Something for everyone.

I was going to suggest a Pitt evening tour like we had for Parents at CMU Sleeping Bag Weekend, but it looks like the company does custom tours. They did a great job though - pretty city at night.
[Molly’s Trolleys](http://www.mollystrolleys.com/)

Also at Station Square, in addition to the Gateway Clipper cruises already mentioned, you can get Just Ducky tours(land AND water) in the evenings. You can make reservations online .
