im going to duke in the fall and am taking my AP’s now. it looks like the english test wont do anything for me since im not a major, or am i wrong? my school pays for it and forces me to take it, so will it matter if i sleep through it and get a 1?

I’m pretty sure you don’t even get a 1 if you sleep through it. I think its a grade of - or 0. I think you oughta man up and just take the test, unless sleeping through AP tests is supposed to be cool now or something.

what you can do is leave the test blank, like not affix ur number label or something, or “forget” to put ur name on a section

Haha RenMan, it looks like we are thinking of screwing up the same AP… :p!
If you want a 1 or possibly a 2… stay awake for the first ten minutes and answer a few MC questions, lol!
Then write crazy intros for the FRQ and then go back to sleep!

Since we get our AP results back in late July and we need to register for classes by July 11th, how does that work out?

I did the same thing last year for French Language. Duke does not care. If you’re going for National AP Scholar, you might want to make sure you have the average. If not, then happy sleeping!

You can always change your classes after July 29th or something. Sign up for the higher level class if you think you got credit, you can always move down later on.

just cancel your score if you sleep through it

For course sign ups I think they tell you to register under the assumption that you received the scores that you think you got (be it a 5 or a 1). If there’s a discrepancy (like you got a 3 instead of a 4), then you can always drop down later in the summer or at the beginning of the semester.

thanks for the replies. i ended up taking the english test because it seemed pretty easy, although i made up a play to use for the third essay (dont ask what it was about).

but the physics c test monday… that will just be a waste of time.

making up a play? are you expecting to get credit for that lol?

So even if I get 2 1’s on APs, Duke shouldn’t care about them? Or should I just cancel them just in case?

If you’re already in to Duke, they don’t care (IMHO).

If you’re applying, they’ll see them, and they might not look too kindly on multiple low scores.

Granted, I got in two years ago (geez, I’m getting old!) and I had a 2.

I’ll see if I can find someone to ask - but I have to say, as much as we’d get a little iffy should your last semester grades be a total tank, methinks the APs - the prospective ones for which you didn’t have scores, anyway - would be irrelevant.

RenMan, you can just cancel your test!
The process is in your student pack.

Given that you’ve been admitted, a single 1 shouldn’t have any affect … no one cares
