1 on the ACT

I didn’t get a 1 or anything, but does anyone know if it has ever happened? I know for sure that it is possible, but I wonder if it has ever happened.

It’s not possible. The minimum score is a 12.

Not true. The latest report from ACT shows the following:

Tests: 1,666,017 for the class of 2012.

Scores & Counts
1 - 1
2 - 2
3 - 2
4 - 6
5 - 16

Not much effort at all from these test takers. Maybe they were in the 2nd grade.

And on the other end of the spectrum:
36 - 781
35 - 4457
34 - 9604
33 - 14,864
32 - 21,438

I think I see a bell curve forming.

I really want to meet the person that got a 1.

There are underground groups of test-takers (a/k/a gamblers) who are actually adults, who take the SAT or ACT test to purposefully see if they can get the lowest score (1 per section in the ACT and 200 per section for the SAT) while answering all the questions, meaning attempting to give a wrong answer for every question (to prove you answered every question you need to order the extra score report providing your answers from the testing agency). Usually they don’t include writing sections in the bet.

Do they have a website/forum or anything like that?

Ones that I became aware of in the past avoid putting anything about it on the web like the plaque.

Maybe parents try to do it to drag the curve down so the kids get higher scores?!

where did you find that data?

I honestly have no idea what you mean.

Lowest score is 12, that person is incorrect.

The ACT reports scores lower than a 12. Just read the link.

@kldat: Well, i stand corrected. Guess that my highschool has been feeding us lies( faulty school systems, shocking right?) :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the info!
