Stanford offers admission to 2,465</p>

<p>For the second year in a row, Stanford University had a record number of applicants to its freshman class and has offered admission to 2,465 of them. </p>

<p>It had previously offered admission to 750 of those applicants who had applied under the university’s early decision process.</p>

<p>Stanford had 23,965 applicants, breaking last year’s record of 22,332.</p>

<p>Because students offered admission may choose to attend a different university, Stanford typically enrolls about 1,650 students in each first-year class.</p>

<p>The students offered admission come from all 50 states and 59 foreign countries.</p>

<p>California is home to 958 students offered admission, while Texas is second with 147 and New York third with 107.</p>

<p>Among foreign students offered admission, 35 are from Korea, 18 from Singapore and 17 from Canada.</p>

<p>“The academic power, social activism, artistic talent, athletic achievement and intellectual vitality of our admitted students is truly humbling,” said Richard Shaw, dean of undergraduate admission and financial aid.</p>

<p>All prospective students have been invited to visit the campus April 19-21 during Admit Weekend. Students have until May 1 to decide on accepting admission.
