I came across a very interesting address recently, “10 Lessons of an MIT Education.” Gian-Carlo Rota, a now deceased MIT mathematics professor, delivered this address in 1996. Though it dates from 1996, it conveys some sense of what seems to make MIT the unique institution that it is. It seems there are relatively few universities about which one could write a similar “10 Lessons of a ___________ Education.”
