Hi - I live in the DC area and recently got an invitation for a diversity meeting at an African-American history museum for the 10 Schools Admission Organization. Seeing as I am not African-American but of another ethnicity, I don’t know whether it would be appropriate for me to attend. I think the aim of the meeting is to attract students of that race, and I don’t want it to be awkward if I show up. Also, if I do go, what can I expect? I’m not sure of what to wear, how to act, or really anything about this. I’m not at all familiar with the admissions side of schools, so I’m kind of nervous. Please advise :)

Sigh - the meeting is being held there, it doesn’t mean the meeting is just FOR African Americans. If you have doubt, just call the school that sent you the invitation and they’ll clear it up.

Also - most often these are introduction meetings, receptions, not interviews as far as I know. Be comfortable - when in doubt, business casual will work.

Thanks - this helped clear things up a lot :)

Wait how do you get the invites? I recently found out about this 10 school thing, and I don’t know much about it.
