100 point scale vs. 4 point scale?

I am a Canadian student planning on attending an American university. I currently attend one of the toughest prep schools in a challenging province that has an internationally recognized curriculum. Because of the rigorous courses I’ve had to take, my 100 point average is only an 86.3%. My province states that anything above an 80 is considered an “A”. I have gotten classes in the 70’s (a “B”) so because of this, my overall GPA is a 3.75.

My question is when I am applying, should I use my 4 point average (3.75) or my 100 point average (86.3)? My biggest fear is a school seeing an 86.3% and considering me a 3.0 student, however when they see how tough my curriculum was it could be considered a 4.0.

What do you guys think?

You should be consistent with the way GPA information is presented in your transcript. If both the 100 point scale and 4.0 scale are shown on your transcript, it’s fine to choose the 4.0 scale. Otherwise, probably not. But, don’t worry. Colleges realize international students have widely varying GPA scales.
