<p>Wow, Sesame Street is 40 years old…guess I have to admit being older than 40 FOR SURE! SS has always been one of my all-time fav kids shows…my dream out of college was to work on the show.</p>

<p>I love Guy Smiley. I was happy to see Gladys the Cow there, too, along with my absolute favorite non-regulars, the Yip-Yip Martians.</p>

<p>This brings back so many memories. I had forgotten all about some of our family favorites…Amazing Mumford, Placido Flamingo, and Pat Playjacks. As a matter of fact, we still refer to “that” show as “Squeal of Fortune”</p>

<p>If I time it right so that Elmo’s World is on, all three of my sons–19,13,9–will stop and watch it.</p>

<p>Thanks for the nostalgia. I remember Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, who I couldn’t find in the picture, but then realized they were from the Muppet Show rather than Sesame Street…Good Times.</p>

<p>Sesame Street is pure genius. I thought it was great when my kids were tots. I like how they added humor for the parents who were watching along and it was so clever. </p>

<p>You might enjoy Avenue Q as an adult. </p>

<p>When my D was 17, she did professional summer theater out of state and one of the actors she worked with had played Barclay the Dog on SS for years and years and she shared a house with him (for actors who were from out of town).</p>

<p>To the OP: Sesame Street is for everyone, not just the wrinklies! I watched it when I was little and I’m 16 now.</p>

<p>My sophomore year in high school I did my National History Day project on Sesame Street. Sonia Manzano (the woman who plays Maria) was in town to give a speech and I remember chasing her around town trying to get an interview. I was finally able to track her down at the airport. It was truly amazing how many people who worked at the airport were willing to help me out/bend the rules to get this interview, just because it was someone from Sesame Street. They all had a story they wanted to tell or a favorite episode they wanted to share. It was truly incredible to see how so many people of different ages and backgrounds all had Sesame Street in common.</p>

<p>PS- Technically it’s not 40 til November 10th. You’ve still got some time!</p>

<p>Maria is who I wanted to be!!! :slight_smile: When I was in college and doing some early childhood practicum, I actually had a little girl who called me Miss Maria, cause she was convinced I was Maria from SS!!!</p>

<p>(I too was able to briefly meet some of the SS folk - met Maria and Luis very quickly and met, talked and took pictures with Gordon when he visited the pediatric floor I worked on!)</p>

<p>Sesame Street will always have a very, very special place in my heart because the first “real” laugh my baby girl had was while watching the Honkers. For some reason my little baby thought they were hilarious. I still get misty when I think of how cute she was laughing her little baby laugh! My favorite character is Grover. I loved it when he worked as a waiter and drove Mr. Johnson crazy!! Did anyone else notice/know that Bert has a twin brother, Bart. Who knew?</p>

<p>Hats off to the creators of Avenue Q who did an amazing job parodying the “Muppets” in adult situations. Do some searching on YouTube for some great Avenue Q clips.</p>
