haha yeah they’re not in ALL the classrooms… Only the newer lecture halls (e.g. in Tech, Annenberg) and classrooms with new black desks (e.g. Harris) have reclining backs.

Once you get to college, you’ll learn to poke fun of your school. It’s not that you don’t love it, it’s just that you see all of its little flaws and they’re almost cute. I’m a tour guide here and I still love to b*tch about NU! (not to prospies of course!)

“Once you get to college, you’ll learn to poke fun of your school. It’s not that you don’t love it, it’s just that you see all of its little flaws and they’re almost cute.”

Speaking of flaws, are they going to turn (or already had?) part of the lagoon into parking lot? I haven’t followed up on that and I just realize I should get the info from your guys.

Oh yeah it is fun to b*tch about the school even though I love it, but I don’t know if doing it at a forum read by prospies is a good idea. They haven’t come to NU yet so they don’t know what it’s really like - so what we say can make an impression whether we like it or not. Remember when you were a senior applying to college and was bombarded with all this hearsay about colleges. Sometimes it’s hard to sort out fact from fiction! Or in this case, deep dissatisfaction from light-hearted criticism.

Sam Lee - I might be wrong, but I think they DO have plans to build a multi-level parking garage behind Annenberg (where the current parking lot is). Whether that entails filling in part of the lagoon, I have no idea. I don’t think they will take that very lightly though, the administration knows how good the lagoon looks and how much we enjoy it.

Haha, I didn’t see it as dissatisfied or disheartened, I think we all love NU, but it IS funny to see prospies and stuff posting why they love NU when it seems like they have some of the info backwards :)

As for student groups vs. NU, I think the point was that they love NU because we get great speakers and concerts. Which- we do! A&O love.

And DM- yes, many schools have it, but NU’s is arguably the biggest (I believe it is), and it’s a huge part of the school. Definitely should make the “good things about NU” list.

neo-
well I do know that they tried to fill in a bit of the lagoon a couple years back and evanston threw a fit (“harming the environment” even though the lagoon is man made), so I doubt they are touching it now.
Which is a good thing, imo. I love the lagoon.

Speaking of great things to do at NU - I hope you current students are taking advantage of tailgating/attending games at Dyche (er, Ryan Field) during football season.

The next couple of seasons (and beyond) should be very exciting (barring any major injuries). The 'Cats should win 8-9 games next year and be in the hunt for a B10 title in 2008.

Not to mention supporting the other teams (lax, soccer, softball, swimming, wrestling, tennis, bb, etc.) - this is probably the BEST time for NU sports.
