lol i dont think they’d like having their IQ’s published…

Our English teacher did this for fun one time. We were given this list of authors too study, and after the test we complained about it (although a class full of college bound seniors will complain about anything) so she said to come up with any questions about the authors and she would answer them. So the next day we did, and she knew pretty much everything, maybe 9/10.

However, I have had other teachers who didn’t know their stuff, generally in math and physics. Now if its a calculation error or something, I totally understand, stuff like that happens, but when they don’t know how to solve the problem themselves, thats when I start worrying.

Teaching ability doesn’t depend that much on intelligence. Some really smart professors are awful teachers. In fact, being dumber may even help since it helps teachers understand students and it’s less frustrating for them to bring the material down to their level.

Oh, and I read somewhere that education majors have the lowest average SAT score. But that was from a book published in the 90’s.

This article seems oddly familiar.

I don’t see how getting their IQs posted would do anything.

well parents wouldn’t want their kids to be taught by someone with like a 90 IQ so they’d probably start protesting and all those things

rawr - I wanted this thread to focus on point 11, not point 10 (point 10 was added as clarification of a reference in 11)

There’s really no need for a minimum IQ score for teachers, let alone a need for them to have all of the curriculae memorized. All they have to do is pass on the information–they don’t even need to find a way to present it.

All of the planning, organizing, gauging, and creating is done by the companies who write the curriculae.

If there should be a minimum IQ score for anyone, it should be for the writers over at Connected Mathematics or Prentice Hall–you could categorize them into the groups mentioned in post #1.

bump .

most of my teachers would ace the test if the students made them. it doesn’t mean they’re good teachers, though.
