$$$$$$$$???

hello! i am an entering freshmen, and i have a few questions regarding $$$

is it true that all money(from grants, scholarships, and loans) goes to UCSD’s student account? do outside scholarships also go there? what about cal grant(i heard that some people get a check, is that true)?what if there are more money than needed by ucsd? can the money left over in the student account be transfered to a private bank account under the student’s name? if this can happen, then when will it happen?

also, i currently have my preliminary aid results, but when do i actually get the money?

What if the school offered me a loan and i don’t want to get that loan( since i’ll just borrow from my parents cuz there wont be any interests)?

when do i pay housing and tuition?

Thanks so much! :D

Yes; at first your financial aid money will be used to cover all the expenses that you’ll need to pay for Fall quarter 2011. Once all that’s been paid off, any leftover money will be then transferred to your personal bank account of choice a few days before the quarter starts.

You probably won’t get the actual money until sometime September, a few week before school starts.

If the school offered you a loan and you choose not to take it, then you’ll have the opportunity to decline the loan when it comes for you to confirm your financial aid awards.

Payments are automatically if you have financial aid money coming. If your financial aid doesn’t cover everything, then you’ll have to pay the overdue balance before a certain deadline.

Hope this helps!

It won’t go directly into your bank account if you don’t set up direct deposit though.

^ Yeah, forgot to mention that. If you don’t set up direct deposit, they will mail you a check instead of depositing the money into your bank account.

Also i would like to note that the subsidized loan does not accrue interest until after you graduate so that might be a good loan to take in your situation.

Thanks so much guys! All the information above helped sooo much! Thank you~!!!
