12.1 inch too small?

Well, Office Depot is having a deal which is supposedly amazing according to a friend of mine who is much more knowledgeable about computers than I am. Here is the laptop in question: [Office Depot Advertised Specials](http://officedepot.shoplocal.com/officedepot/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&storeid=2478178&rapid=549130&pagenumber=1&listingid=-2091541178)

Its 600 dollars (1100 originally)… which I guess is pretty good considering it has a touch screen and swivel screen. However, I can’t think of a case when am I EVER going to need to really use a touch or swivel screen. The processor, ram, and hard drive seem pretty good and standard.

So really, the main thing that differentiates it from other notebooks I’m looking at is the screen size. Is a 12.1 inch screen too small for everyday use? I’m guessing it’ll stay in my dorm room for the most part, but I’ll carry it to the library or a class a few times a week. The other laptops I’m considering are 14.1 inches or 15.4 inches, and the advantage of a 12.1 that comes to mind is that its more portable/lighter. I’ll probably be using it for MS Word documents, powerpoints, surfing the web, music on iTunes, maybe watching movies occasionally, and some light photoshop.

So, what are your opinions?

I say buy it. That’s the lowest price I’ve seen for this laptop. Someone I know has it, it seems pretty nice…

that’s what she said

*$$@!#!@!!@!!!

– It’s a good deal. I’m enraged because I bought a similar 12.1" HP tablet about 13 months ago for 2.5 times as much.

It’s a good price, I think 12.1 would be fine for most things

BUY IT!, Id buy it if I hadn’t ordered my new laptop already

It’s a little small for some tasks, but the portability of a 12.1" tablet is top notch. At $600? I’d say go for it!

Sweet, thanks for the input guys, it seems like a good buy.

Coopjust, you said its a little small for some tasks… could you specify on what types of tasks you’re talking about? I want to cover all my bases… don’t want to end up regretting my decision when I get to college

I had a 14.1 and I wished I had something smaller to carry around. I think I would buy it especially if it was going to be staying in my dorm room for the most part…it seems like a good deal!

Well, it’s a little small of a screen for watching movies or playing games, probably video or photo editing, some apps with really small buttons (probably 3D apps)…for most tasks that aren’t too intensive, it’d be the perfect size- the portability is unbeatable, and at $600, you could afford to buy a desktop if you so desired.
