I’m not complaining. Quadrophenia is one of my all time favs. I’m trying to figure out who is drumming… oh maybe Zak Starkey…

I know. I kept saying to H, another one by the Who? But they are my college days band. We constantly listened to Who’s Next in my dorm room.

The Who stole the show - that is Starkey - did you know Keith Moon was his godfather!

Wow. Am I watching this on the Cooking Channel? That’s what it says!

“The very humble Kanye West”!

I hear Will Ferrel is turning in a great Daltry impression.
;)

Kiddie I did not know that…wow…I’ve always had a “thing” for drummers:-)

Kanye in a skirt?

"Kanye in a skirt? "

Husband walked in and said exactly that!

^ Sounds like a plan.

You go, outer boroughs.

You go, Kanye.

I recorded it because I was out on a business dinner. Loved Bruce. I am watching it now.

Cool—Michael Stipes and Chris Martin duet

^gonna have to youtube that if I can. I didn’t stay up that late; would have if I knew Stipe was going to be on!

I am too old to stay up that late when it’s a work night! It’s going to be a caffeine & advil kind of day.

We didn’t see any of it past The Who. They were DH’s favorites of the night. I wish I could’ve stayed up to see Billy Joel.

glad I added 2 hours extra recording time on my DVR!

It was interesting to hear how the music has either remained the same or degraded into noise.

So for example, I was most impressed musically with Clapton because he played with 2 guys in a Cream-like trio for a song like Crossroads. Sounded great. It takes guts to stand up there in a huge place with only 2 other guys. It was only when Springsteen got to Born to Run that you really heard how his older stuff was simply better musically and that he now relies on a lot of noise and personality.

I thought Roger Waters did a nice job musically. He did what he tours with. Eddie Vedder showed he’s a terrific singer and really elevated that song.

I thought The Who were ok; the material was really meant to be played live - and they were the best live band - but the dynamics weren’t crisp. You could still hear it pretty well though. I thought the best musician in the band was Zak Starkey, Ringo’s eldest, on drums. It takes Roger a few songs to get his voice loose.

I thought Bon Jovi was terrific. I’m not a big fan but they play arena music and do it well.

Thought Alicia Keys sort of rambled on, playing the same riff over and over and doing the “hold up your cellphone” line too much. It would have worked better - for me - if this were worked into one of her shows.

The Stones … well, Mick always sounds the same. His vocal strength is amazing. He’s not the singer he was but then Sinatra said it best, that at some point you switch from being a singer to a belter. Mick is a belter but he plays huge venues so that works. I hate to say this but the band sounded like a hot mess of noise without definition.

Haven’t yet watched the end acts.

^stones haven’t sounded well in a long time…IMO
