I am in love with Rachel Alexandra…I will be glued to TV today. I hope just like Kentucky Derby it is a Cinderella story.

I am in love with Rachel Alexandra…I will be glued to TV today. I hope just like Kentucky Derby it is a Cinderella story.

And tomorrow it is going to be Rocket’s day.

We will be watching along with you. We should make it home just in time after DD finishes riding her horse (hunter/jumpers, not racing!).

As much as I hate the Lakers, you’re going to be disappointed.

But today it was Rachel.

Your girl won!

I’m glad she did well but I hated that she was the spoiler for Mine that Bird - it would be so nice to go into the third leg with a shot at the Triple Crown. Giving credit, Mine that Bird ran another great race.

well he came in second…made more money to ‘investors’… If the track was longer than 1 3/16, he would have won.

The Jockey did it again though.

Another couple hundred yards and Mine that Bird might have had her.

While it looked like he might have won, I’m not sure that Rachel didn’t have another gear there that the jockey didn’t have to tap. Somehow seeing these owners and the trainer (for all of 10 days) up there taking the credit is strange.

At least the trainer keeps reminding everyone that he had her for only 10 days -

That’s true. But Calvin Borel said that she wasn’t running as well as she could have. Bird also had to run farther than she did since he couldn’t get through on the inside this time. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had been able to go inside.

That’s some amazing horse! (I mean Mine That Bird). He was 13 lengths back in a short race, got cut out at the rail, and still made a real race of itl.

I think it may have been a different race had Mine that Bird been able to get inside - going outside had to have taken something off the run. Regardless, as much as it pained me, I was hoping he would beat the filly. I don’t like the fillies running against the colts generally.

I think it was amazing. I only tuned in because my dad was cheering her on and screaming liek crazy. Definitely true girl power. =P

mini You and horse race (gambling)?

Problem gambling is also part of my professional work, and it is partially funded by the Horseracing Comission. Go figure.

They have to. They always preach ‘Don’t let Game Out of Hand’.

Is Rachel Alexandra headed for the Belmont?

Probably. That should be a better race. Less traffic, more distance. It will be interesting. I’m really glad that Mine That Bird ran such a good race in the Preakness, and really annoyed that Rachel Alexandra’s former owner didn’t run her in the Derby.

I’m also annoyed that the major newspapers no longer cover horse racing except for the Triple Crown and occasionally a few other major races, and that I can’t see it on TV either.

Well, the Rockets did not glare but rather fizzled yesterday in LA. It makes a huge difference when the LA big men show up to play. I agree with Kob’s assessment of the team, though. He said they were bi-polar.

^ You have earned the right to rub it in.
