12 quarters / summer session

UCLA is pretty strict about graduating in 12 quarters. Do the summer sessions count towards these quarters?

no
10 char

Who ever said it’s strict about 12 quarters? That’s bogus. Numerous people do the 5-year plan.

it was from my counselor; she said anything over 12 qtrs is discouraged, but I know 5th years too; I just don’t want things like this to get in the way of my degree pursuit.

as long as you don’t go over the max units, you can stay for a 5th year.

Right, you initially misrepresented what your counselor says. Take what she says with a grain of salt. Shew was merely regurgitating the university’s desire to “push people through the system in short time”, but more than 4 years is definitely allowed. (as long as you’re within the unit window, as stated above)

People have been here for 5-6 years. You can stay here for a while as long as you don’t go over 216 units.
