13 ridiculous things people have actually put on their college applications — no joke

“… Here are 14 of the most outrageous things people have actually done in their applications, from claiming their GPA was 95 to asking to be called ‘The Turtle.’”

This is just a quoting rehash of a question posed on Reddit, so 1. it’s not original content, just a pageview grab and 2. Absolutely zero of the “outrageous things” are verified as being true.

Eh, even if they aren’t real, some are amusing. But no reference to clamfart? C’mon!

Besides, none are as funny as our own "clam fart"er from 2008.

Still mad that thread was closed. 10 years in the making.

Well, one CC kid who was being forced to apply by a parent did want to write that it wasn’t his choice. Not sure if he did that.
And I’ve seen plenty of kids who mistake the college names. Not just that, but claiming reasons in the Why Us that didn’t exist at this college, never have, never will.

I often refer people to that thread when posters get too excited about one A-.

I don’t get this one?

Boston University used to have a page on their admissions website describing essay mistakes they had seen. For the “Why BU?” essay one applicant wrote about the value of a Jesuit education. Boston University is secular, Boston College is the Jesuit school. He was denied but they did contact him about his error.

@TomSrOfBoston Maybe they should have written about the “value of BEATING a Jesuit school in ice hockey”.
Maybe they would have gotten in then
