<p>Yeah… although most of the time you should be exceptionally strong in another area, like sports or extra curriculars.</p>
<p>what i bet is even more common is someone who started out with a 1340, and now has a 1500+ I was in your exact same position, I got a 1340 my first round with SATs, then I took a course and took them again, score went up 180 pts…and hopefully I will be one of those ppl at Stanford…hopefully…</p>
<p>I have the same problem Newby, my SAT score is very similar to yours. I hope they don’t count so much on it. Do you have a large gap btw your math and verbal? How are your SAT II scores?</p>

<p>i know someone who got in EA, 1360, well 4.0 but only like 3 ap classes total. and 3years of jv tennis. so have hope :]</p>

<p>i have a 1360, but i am also a recipient of a National Institute of Health research grant and I participated in Research Science Institute (RSI). RSI is writing one of my recommendations, so that’d be interesting. Thus, my EC and passion will balance my horrid score</p>

<p>hot ice, english isn’t my first language, been speaking it for the past five years though, i feel so stupid and useless :(. my friends have only been speaking about a year or two, but they got 750+ on verbal, shame on me :(</p>

<p>you get the NIH grant by writing a 50 pg research proposal and sending it into NIH. NIH then ranked your grant based on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 given the highest priority.</p>
<p>Anyway, I got my own NIH grant the summer of sophomore year. I just finished writing my 2nd one 11/1. I’m requesting 2 millions dollars for 5 yrs to start a gene therapy experiment on this particular incurable disease. So far, my preliminary studies is showing that the AAV vector is working!</p>

<p>no. a 1340 is a completely inferior score. u need a 1600 and 3 800s just to get the admissions officer to even look at you. </p>

<p>okay i am an international but i have been studying first lang english for like the past 12 years, and all i get is a freaking 470 on verbal. i seriously don’t get this because I get As in my English classes (british system). I’m just really shocked at the content SAT1 verbal tests you on… VOCAB…</p>
