I’m a 14-year-old student from an underdeveloped country, and I’m interested in applying to Le Rosey. I know it’s one of the most prestigious schools, and I wanted to get some insight into my chances of being accepted, especially since I’m applying for scholarships. Here’s a bit more about me:
I founded an organization in my community, which now has over 2000 members. We focus on addressing local issues such as government accountability, environmental concerns, and community education.
I’m the school captain (student council president), where I lead student efforts to improve school life, student discipline, and overall student representation.
Additionally, I am the captain of the Blue House at my school, managing inter-house competitions and promoting house spirit.
I have the highest grades in my class across all subjects, consistently ranking first.
Due to financial constraints, I would need significant financial aid, as my family cannot afford the high tuition.
What are my chances of being accepted at Le Rosey with full scholarship, especially with my leadership background and academic achievements?
Annual cost of attendance is 154K CHF, equivalent to over 180K USD. There are very, very few scholarships available, and even those are quite modest and they are extremely competitive. To emphasize, they come nowhere near the cost of attendance.
Reality #2. Even if you could afford it, unless your family is well-known, you’re not getting in.
I’ll add that your fellow students at Le Rosey will not necessarily be the best and brightest. Some may even be the worst kind of students - wildly overprivileged, out of touch with reality, literally above the law in some cases.
For your background I’d definitely second the recommendation for UWC and also US-based prep schools who will appreciate your community-oriented work.
If Switzerland is your dream, check out Aiglon and Beausoleil. (Not as many children-of-dictators there )
@admmda
Thank you so much!
I did researched about the UWC but I am currently in grade 9 and applying for grade 10.
I will think about other US-based prep schools.
You sound like a terrific student.
If your quest for Fall 2025 admission isn’t fruitful, do consider United World Colleges as has been mentioned above - the preparation and interviews are lengthy and there may only be 10 kids from your entire country who are selected. Reaching out to current and former students is important.
Andover or Philips Exeter award large scholarships but it’s anyone’s guess whether you might get in and whether the aid would be sufficient.
Many students apply in the 9th grade and enter the 9th grade there, ie., “repeat” 9th grade, but it generally is a very very different 9th grade than the previous one.
These would be better than LeRosey for an intellectually curious student.
Look at the “M10” threads on this forum.
@MYOS1634
Thanks a lot.
I have applied to the US schools like Exeter, Andover, Choate and Aiglon as well.
Given that what are my chances of being accepted at Exeter or Aiglon (These two are my first priorities) with full scholarship or full financial aid?
