14 year-old Transfer Applicant(skipped high school)

Transferring from LACC to a top tier university is a big step. You will be 15 or 16 when entering UCLA, Caltech or Stanford. But it is possible. There are major difference between classes at LACC and Cal tech. Can you handle quantum physics, linear algebra etc??? All bright kids do well on SAT at age 12-14. How did you do on AMC12? Better be around 140 if you want to go to Caltech. What about AIME scores?Good luck. Again, the only child prodigy I know was featured on 60minutes with Dan Rather.

AMC 12… AIME? I have heard of them, don’t know really, am I eligible to take them? Well, I know it is a big step. So, I take a high courseload and try my best to keep extra-curriculars. Well, LACC to UCLA, a lot of people do that these days, usually 3.7+=good for UCLA for biochem and biology. But yeah, I will take my quantum mechanics at UCLA. I actually plan to take the rest of my calculus and all my physics at UCLA through open-enrollment classes. Yeah, LACC is okay, but there is barely anything to do, and the classes are boring. Hehe, SATs are okay, whatever. Caltech and UCLA won’t take SATs into account, which just sucks. Stanford definetly does. Remember, this is for tarnsfer. Yeah, I know I am going to finish all of the core curriculum before Spring 2006 for Caltech.

o man this thread is still alive…

So, Rahul, which professors did you like at LACC and who’d you take for your courses there? I’m pretty sure since you have most of the GE requirements, you’ve been through all of the buildings… so… which one did you find was the best?

Ya…I truly think that it is sad how this thread is still existing!

Hey Rahul

Do your parents agree with this decision? Please don’t skip high school.
This is not a joke, think this over wit your parents.
Why would you want to do such a thing? You seem like a smart guy, go to high school; then you will have a great chance at some of the great colleges like mit, stanford, caltech, etc.
If you skip HS you might end up in an inferior college. Don’t make this mistake.

Didnt you read headedsouth’s post? His parents bought im the hs diploma!
This is arrogant and is a loser. he would probably get rejected from every college he applies to. rahul, your only option is middle school.

just the fact that this thread about the fake kid is still alive ****es me off

well thats great buddy you managed to skip highschool and as a replacement you took ****ty college level classes and u expect to get somewhere?..lol listen a perfect score in you SAT’s doesn’t set you apart from the thousands who apply to ivy league schools, your course load is weak as hell, the john hopkins CTY award (well that might have been an interesting fact for highschool teachers, but any college will laugh at it), and your EC’s are a joke!..the point is your smart for a 14 year old but ivy schools wont care about that, your not gonna bring anything extra to the community, unless you have a major talent. once you apply your resume will be among thousand of elites each with near perfect scores, valedictorians, heavy courseloads, unique talents setting them at the top of the nation, and nationally ranked athletes…do you have any of them? lol sorry

Lets have a poll on this kid:

Thinks he’s loser - 1
Thinks he’s normal - 0

what is this???
!!?
how can someone possibly skip 4 Grades in high school?
That’s not possible…

even if u do get As in college courses when you’re in MIDDLE School…you havent even met the other part of the world yet lol

And you immedietely go to college!?
i know someone who skips at max, 2 grades

4???
…that’s like, the youngest kid to go to an ivy in history

What about that girl that’s like 14 and working on her phD at Drexel? I think that is the youngest. Maybe??

drexel… while it is a fine school for engineering/arts… is hardly an ivy… ironic because it shares a campus area with penn…

I agree, go to high school. If your parents are that rich, go to Harvard-Westlake, polytech, they feed into IVY, cannot compare LACC to these prep schools. Why not Exeter? If you went to any high school, you would know all math whiz kids take AMC, and AIME tests.

Haha I agree… Harvard-Westlake does share the name “Harvard”… so if you’re looking for that prestigious name, there you go. You hear too often times of those geniuses that decide to skip high school but end up at a really low-tier college. Why are you in such a hurry? The high school years aren’t just about academics. It’s also about building your social life. What you do in those four years can very well outline your personality for the rest of your life. Most people “find” themselves in high school; you probably aren’t an exception. Four years is a very small percentage of your life, spend if wisely. My guess is you’ll end up going to a low end private, which you will regret. Your parents will have to shell out 150K and you’ll end up with a degree from some no name college, trying desperately to get into some prestigious school once again; while all your friends that are the same aged as you are getting into the MIT’s or Stanford undergraduate programs. Unless you plan on having no social life anyways, go ahead and skip high school. Have fun being a hermit the rest your life if you skip HS.

wow this is ridiculous. college is not all about grades. even though you think you may be “intellectually” ready, let me tell you, there is no way possible that you can be “socially” ready to handle the everyday pressures of college besides grades and classes. roommates? parties? events? you need high school dude.

Did the 14 year old join college or HS, I had seen this post a long time ago. Does anybody know what happened? Which college did the kid go to?
I really hope he went to HS.
If you read this: DON’T SKIP HS, actually I hope you don’t even if you don’t read this post!!!
Go to HS and excel there, get all A’s, do something great and try to get into a super cool college, in the long run (ie. your entire life) it will be beneficial for you, and probably you will start earning much more much earlier than you would ever earn after going to a mediocre college.
And, believe me you will just feel left out through out your college years. No parties, no girl friends - unless you are really lucky.
And again, I really don’t care if you mess your life, but I sincerely believe that you must not skip High School. I have an impulse to skip a few courses myself (I am Indian too, I suppose its an Indian thing), but I prefer to rough it out. Take some additional courses to make your studies more challenging, mix some easy courses with some tough ones- but the only problem is that you might end up with 23 units per semester like me!! Please nobody start a thread about another wierd Indian over achiever taking 23 units.
And, if you have any unique problem or fear due to which you want to skip HS talk to an adviser, your parents or anybody whom you trust.

By the way, when my son was in 7th grade, we went to a Johns Hopkins Talent Search Award Ceremony. The keynote speaker was an 18-year-old boy who HAD skipped high school & gone from 8th grade to college & just graduated from college (he got perfect 1600 on his SAT & got a full 4-year scholarship to a private college). While at college, he was very active & even served as student body president! He had just accepted admission into Harvard for his 1st year of law school & was leaving that fall.
While he spoke, as a parent I was happy for him that he was happy with how his life was evolving, but I was also glad my kids were not following his path. There is a lot of emotional growth I have seen in them during their years in high school and personally I would have ben sad to see them rush to grow up so quickly. I have not heard anything about the keynote speaker since that day 4+ years ago when he spoke, but hope things worked out for him as he had hoped.

Thats good to hear and I hope they work out nicely for this guy too, but its very rare and its not worth it. I am at college and really miss my HS days, there is absolutely no reason to skip it, even if you could, unless you know that your days a numbered or something like that.

haha… i know that this has been bumped a thousand times but it is just to entertaining…

and I want to know what colleges the OP is applying to :)
