1440 SAT's but 3.4 gpa

<p>i know… really low gpa… really want to go to B.C. as communications/journalism major</p>

<p>moved to a different school during sophmore year, huge drop in grades, upward trend after that-</p>

<p>sat 1: 740M 700V
sat 2s: 790 Writing, 760 Korean, 730 Math 2c, 690 Lit</p>

<p>gpa: 3.4
taking hardest classes offered at public school, 9 APs, all honors, skipped art courses and went directly into art 3</p>

<p>ecs:
radio show host of a 3 hr program for three yrs, interned and wrote at local newspaper, editor-in-chief of church newspaper for two years, interned at USC’s Information Sciences Institute East, co-president and founder of Wings (a county club that volunteers every week in D.C.) that was featured in the newspaper, second degree blackbelt, featured in art magazine twice, First junior docent at the Corcoran Gallery of Art for two years and etc etc… </p>

<p>what do you think? or any other schools you suggest?</p>

<p>IMHO, I think you should apply to NYU as well and GWU. You have a fair chance at BC, though. Good luck!</p>

<p>I live in VA too!! Yeah, Smith is in MA, you should definitely look into it…it’s a great school that seems to really look at what the applicant offers personally to the campus rather than focusing on the numbers…I applied there as a last minute addition to my list but the more I see about it, the more intrigued I am!</p>

<p>Oh man, this is sweet – other normal people! I’ve also got similar stats:
SAT: 1410 (690M 720V)
SAT II: Math IIC - 750, Writing - 720, Physics - 640
GPA: 3.40</p>

<p>Cool stuff, no? Same stuff happened with me: I moved around like crazy and it destroyed my GPA, but there is a definite upward trend.</p>

<p>people should stop that stupid BUMP thing cause its so annoying, some forums all it has are “bumps bumps” while its so dull and uninteresting that no one really replies. anyways wats so bad about a 3.4? and those over 4.0 kids have tehir gpa wayyyyyyy overweighted ahah some has like a 4. something jsut for an AP course, in that case, id probably get like a 45. something (AHAH NOT) anyways, umm yea i dont live in VA, but wanted to post a comment.</p>

<p>Your in at BC with your stats. My only question is why haven’t looked at BU and Emerson who have fantastic communication departments?</p>

<p>PS I think your sat scores are above normal. A 1440 can easily be a student at any Top 25. I mean do remember that the national average of SAT’s is like a 1070 or so. I can’t remember.</p>

<p>I actually am applying to BU too haha. I haven’t really looked at Emerson though- I’ll look it up, thanks for the advice!</p>
