145 IQ, 6'4, Mom went to harvard, Male, Sophomore, does crew/needs crew scores

<p>Hey guys! I really really want to get into an IVY league school. Mainly Harvard and Columbia. I am really smart but unfortunately only 8th in my class of 600. By the end of my senior year I see myself at 5th but unfortunately I cannot get past that mark unless the other 4 people completely screw up (very unlikely). I have a 145 IQ and am extremely tall. My mom went to Harvard and did crew there (more for fun then serious competition). Anyways I just started crew a month ago and have rowed two 2Ks. my first was 7:30.5 and my second was 7:09.7</p>

<p>Three Main Questions:

  1. What are my chances of making it into an IVY or pseudo IVY League (MIT, Stanford, etc)
  2. To any crew experts. What should my ultimate 2K time goal be? I have heard 6:30 for good schools and 6:15 for IVY. Honestly I think this is possible to get to with my incredible size. If I can get to the IVY quality of rowing would I be able to make it through admissions.
  3. Assuming I become this crew prodigy and Harvard actually wants me, would there be financial aid (under the table or scholarships etc). I have heard IVYs don’t give scholarships but if they want you they will help “fund” you education</p>

<p>Is English not your first language because you write very… interestingly. You do realize that IQ means absolutely nothing to colleges, right? But I invite you to put it on your application because they love it when you put it on your personal statement. :D</p>

<p>If your mom went to Harvard, why not ask HER opinion and/or trust her advice? I would personally start there. You don’t need a 145 IQ to figure that out, c’mon genius, where’s the common sense?</p>

<p>In all seriousness, I got an iq of 130 and a different test gave me 127… Interesting.</p>

Anyways, if your serious, I’d imagine yes cuz you have legacy although your essay may be too cocky for the adcoms.</p>
