1500 SAT & 3.0 GPA

I’m a junior in nyc and I want to get into investment banking so I really want to go to NYU or Columbia. I got a 1480 & a 1510 for my mock SATs (2016) which is out of 1600 so I’m assuming you just multiply by 1.5 to compare it to the previous 2400 SAT scores which would be like a 2250. I go to a business HS so I took a bunch of accounting/finance/Econ classes but I have low 80’s for my classes (mostly bc I don’t do HW) What are my chances of getting into NYU or Columbia with 3.0 GPA but a 1500 on the SAT (2016)

Even though your SAT score is great, your chances are low because of your GPA. Start doing your homework now so that you can raise your GPA before it is time to apply. If you have good ECs, your chances will be a little bit better, but your GPA is still really important.

Staying the way it is now I don’t think you would get in. GPA is more important because he shows how you function in school everyday. The SAT is just one day. Not to sound rude but Columbia and other ivy league schools are looking for kids with good work ethic and good grades-- not kids that don’t do homework

No chance. GPA immediately makes those impossible.

I wouldn’t say there’s no chance for NYU depending on which school you apply to (albeit low chances but still) but unfortunately chances at Columbia are slim to none sorry. Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1851091-chance-me-please.html#latest
