yay lol. a lot of schools dont put weigh to the writing section (some dont even consider it), so you’re good

Competitive WHERE?

thankss! how about…cmu tepper…nyu…bc…uva type schools.

This is not competitive for Ivies. You have a chance at other universities that don’t consider writing or have lower SAT scores for admissions.

Many good Universities Super Score, check the Universities you are applying for that. If they do Super Score there its a no brainier, take it again while you want to do good in all but focus on writing preparation.
If the Universities you are planning to apply take M+CR only than there is no need to take again, focus on SAT II’s, GPA and EC.

Of all the sections, writing is definitely weighted the least in the minds of admissions officers. You might still want to consider retaking it to see if you could improve the writing section and perhaps super score; being 100-200 points lower than your other sections is a pretty significant difference. That being said, as a total score, its not bad at all for the schools you listed, putting you a little above average for NYU, BC, and UVA (closer to the 75th percentile).

Hi all. thanks for all your helpful comments. I am planning to take the SAT again. Hopefully I would be able to pull up my SAT to 2200+! But does it matter that I am an international? Will they discount that into my writing scores?

bump?

Yeah if you’re doing STEM
They will not “discount” it. Reading and writing skills are important, regardless of major. That said, these skills are so important that there are preparatory/remedial courses in composition offered at many universities in the range you’re looking at (large publics). There is some understanding that international applicsnts are more likely to require that type of support.
