Ok, I talked to my dad today about my major, and he keeps urging me to come to Duke ONLY if I want to do biomedical engineering. I want to major in civil engineering, but I don’t know whether it is worth it to come to Duke (considering I have $20,000 in loans to pay each year) for civil engineering since it isn’t highly reputed at Duke and I could come to my state university for free to major in civil egr. So what is your take on this? Is Duke worth other engineering majors (besides BME) for the kind of money that I am going to be paying? How many people are in Cvl Egr, and how are their job prospects after college. That is what I am most concerned about; whether I can get a good job in cvl. egr. after graduating from Duke, since I don’t know what a Duke Cvl Egr degree would be worth considering I will have an $80,000 debt. I need to be making some serious money to get out of debt! Please be honest!

I can tell you a friend of mine who’s a CE is working on construction sites during the summer (before graduating) and that another loved his statics course so much that it prompted him to switch from BME to CE. That’s about as useful as I can be as a PPS major.
