17 credits too much fall semester?

I am starting at Penn State UP this summer taking 2 classes and in the fall I currently signed up for 14 credits but my counselor keeps saying I should go up to 17 but I’m worried I would not maintain a gpa of 3.2 which is what I need for smeal college of business.
The classes are Math 110, Mgmt 301. Span 003, and Econ 104. I am debating on adding Astro 001 Web to go up to 17 credits. What do you guys think?

If you take 14 and get in trouble with a class you don’t have any room to drop it without going under full time status. By going up to 17, it allows you room to drop a class and if you aren’t having trouble then you are good to go.

MGMT can be an issue, the class isnt hard but the professor is a tool. Math will be hard if you havent taken calculus before. Astro online is also hard for a lot of people even though it has a rep for being easy for some reason.

What’s your math background?
Span 003 will take a LOT of your time.
I agree though that you should have 17 credits, so that you can drop one class and still be full time (necessary to keep financial aid, etc).
Perhaps wait till you’ve spoken with upperclass students, asking for an easy 3-credit class to add.
