<p>An awful tragedy. Of a kind I find very frightening, maybe especially because I’m a small person who’s come close to being knocked over in crowds. And because my son is small too. </p>

<p>I was once literally lifted off the ground when trying to make my way through a dense crowd that had gathered for an outdoor concert at Rockefeller Center in NYC–and I’m not particularly small. It was just momentary, but terrifying. It seems these disasters are always the result of poor planning/crowd control. (I’m reminded of the poor Walmart employee who was trampled when the doors opened at a post Thanksgiving Day sale.) It’s a sickening tragedy. I hope some heads roll.</p>

<p>Communicating with the band after Roskilde, seemed to start to heal the trauma for the families and the musicians, I hope that the families involved with the tragedy in Germany can also find peace

<p>Mass panic is a terrible thing…so sad for all the victims who were supposed to celebrate peace and harmony and an awful loss for their loved ones.</p>

<p>In January, 2008 I was caught in the airport in Buenos Aires during a strike of domestic airlines workers. There were crowds outside the domestic terminal but not the international terminal. People just kept arriving at the airport since there was no news about departure delays internationally. American Airlines checked me in, the boards said the flights were on time. The crowds got thicker and thicker, hundreds were crammed on a second floor balcony structure that was the cafeteria. Rioting broke out and security personnel fled as the machines were being destroyed. People were surging and fainting. I’ve never been as frightened as I was that day. When I eventually got on the AA plane the pilot announced he and the flight crew had been sitting on the tarmac for 24 hours. I wasn’t too sure of their ability to fly the plane safely but we made it home.</p>
