Essays- I wrote about the song “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey and how it has helped me to carry on throughout my trials and tribulations.

Recommendations- Should be good to very good. I chose two very articulate teachers who care a lot about me.

Hook- Most sought after URM who will bring diversity to campus.

If you think that the color of your skin makes you ‘diverse’ you have a long way to go. Being Native American does not count unless you are registered with your tribe.

i haven’t ever read your essay, but just based on your topic it sounds rather trite…

and to add to 1mx’s post… diversity of ideas and opinions (which sometimes stems from ethnic diversity) is much more valuable than just diversity of skin color, which can be very superficial.

3.4 gpa? WOW.

You need a hook that isn’t just your race. If you’re affiliated with a tribe then you can talk about the unique upbringing, cultural experiences, etc., but just having one heritage over another will not get you in (at least not to top schools.)

I would think your chances would be slim, but definitely non-zero, I’d try to do really well this semester (obviously).
Collegehopeful78: Did that comment really add any value to this thread?

Very good chance due to first generation college student, Native American and sports ability/leadership positions. Assuming that you are a registered member of a tribe, you will be sought after by many elite universities including Dartmouth College. Princeton would be blessed to have you.

you may want to think about your essay choice…there is such a thing as TOO creative…otherwise, i’d just keep working hard, and you have a good chance.
i also agree (100%) with phlogistonfreak’s second comment; GPA can’t mean everything…do you have any extenuating circumstances, or hooks besides being Native American, because it just seems to me to be somewhat shallow to think that race is the sole factor of that thing adcoms call “diversity”

anyways, GOOD LUCK!!!

Dont listen to these people (even though you probly will, they are incorrect) you have a very slim chance of getting in, your ACT is in their range, but the gpa is low, and they get that just because your indian doesnt mean youll bring any diversity to campus unless you are a legit indian, which i would guess your not.

If we subtracted your “hook” from the application most people on this board would tell you that you have a very low chance. And since the hook isnt that great if its just a title, you dont have a good chance.
