180/90 unit SAP limit: exactly when do they cut someone off?

<p>Suppose someone has 175 units already, and they register for another 12.
(Or if you have more CC experience, answer this for someone with 85 units.)</p>

<p>Will they get aid for the 12, and be cut off after that?
Will they get cut off as soon as they register, and only get a prorated aid for 5 units? Does it depend if they will be graduating right away?
Or will they be cut off as soon as they hit 175?</p>

<p>I know people can appeal. I’m just wondering how far someone can go before they even need to appeal or see a councilor. </p>
