English is my second language, Spanish was my first but it’s not really an excuse since I learned English by 4th grade. I wish to have a 2200 by the SAT in October, my group of friends have all done extremely well, 2200+ on their SAT’s but I am yet to take them. I’m a junior right now taking the SAT’s in January but retaking again for October of my senior year.
Math: 760 (according to PSAT’s)
CR: 540 (according to PSAT’s)
Writing: 510 (according to PSAT’s)
Total: 1810
I plan on studying a lot of vocabulary because that is my weakest point as well as grammar rules. This summer I am doing about 80-90 hours of SAT Prep Classes along with self study of course.

It is possible!

Hi MasterYi I have only taken the SAT once so can not really talk about how much studying will improve your score. However, I know that the SAT score demonstrated by my
PSATs was about 120 points lower than my first SAT score. I have many friends who had very similar experiences as well. Just something to keep in mind :)

i took the 2011 december sat and psat without studying and got an 1830 (58Cr 68M 57W) and a 195 (64Cr 74M 57W) I started preparing for my june sat about 3 months before it and ended up receiving a 2220 ( 720Cr 770M 730W) Ive helped many of my friends improve their scores and believe to have found some very effective strategies for improving your score if you follow them as I did. Its definitely possible and not insanely difficult. I took about 6 practice tests and was subsequently studying for the ACT which i raised from 30 to 33. let me know if you want more specific details. Im sure you can do it.

Hey Masteryi,
You have plenty of time to boost your SAT score up–esp after I read you had 510 in writing. The writing component, I believe, is the easiest to boost up because all you need to know is the 14 or 21–I forgot–basic rules. Conjunctions, parallel sentences, etc. With a lot of practice, your brain would be so used to looking at these problems that you would be able to pick out the mistakes out easily.
My friend–an international student-- was able 1400 SAT to a 2200 in 10 months in her grade 11th year. She started with 500 in both CR and writing. You can do the same.

In my case, I had to memorize more than 100 words a day. Altogether, it accumulated to 5000 memorized SAT words. This saved CR points as I did perfect in all the vocab sections. Right now, it gives an extra advantage in college writing.

I suggest you join a SAT institute to help you, as I did.

may i ask a question?
i learn about 100 words everyday from direct hits and hot words (barrons)
what else can i use to learn words?

klmn123,
Learning 100 words a day would not be as beneficial as truly learning 10-20 words.

@casualties
but i remember them!
plus, i review them everyday -_-
