1830, IB Student

Hello! I’m an American student studying the International Baccalaureate abroad in the UK.

I receive all 6’s and 7’s (predicted around 41-42) and my GPA is equivalent to around a 3.85 and my SAT score is 1830:
CR: 650
M: 560
W: 620

This was my first try and I am aiming to increase my score to at leat 100 points more by October.

I am the chair of my schools fundraising group, and have been in many leadership roles.
Along with this, I have taken part in numerous activities like model united nations, three school productions, debate club, newspaper, house team, speech and drama etc.

I have done work experience in a firm for 4 weeks.

I am hispanic.

I would like to apply to the following schools but am unsure of my chances:
NYU
Boston University
UCSB
UT Austin
UCLA
SMU
Tulane
Emory

Thank you!

I think you have a chance at SMU with your current stats. I think the rest are a reach for you. Your math score needs to improve.

Try the ACT before you retake the SAT. Are you a rising junior? If so, then you have time to study and improve your scores. You should discuss with your parents how much money they can spend for college. The schools you have listed are very expensive and only 3-4 have merit scholarships. All of the publics (unless you are considered instate) will be expensive and you will receive little to no aid.

Your GPA is strong. What do you want to study?

Your SAT score is almost at the threshold for NYU and Boston U. I suggest you retake them to be a more competitive applicant

Thank you for the help! I am a rising senior
