One of my friends was accepted as an Architecture major in the College of Environmental Design for Fall 2006. However, with 4 AP classes and personal circumstances he recieved 2 C’s, no D’s and his gpa slid to a 2.8 not including his elective class his 1st semester of senior year, (if the gpa included A-g classes he would have a 3.0) he called admissions and they told him to write a letter explaining why. Should he have reason to worry?

bumpety bump

He should worry if he doesn’t have a good explanation, haha. Maintaining a 3.0 is a condition of your admission.

yeah, c’mon, get him to pull it up. a 3.00 unweighted is not THAT Hard to get. I mean, we all have a senioritis but don’t forget that you worked hard to get into berkeley, now you have to work hard to say in.

if the personal circumstance doesn’t sound like a good reason… yes… he should pull up those grades. there’s still some time left.

Pull those grades up! Have fun during your last semester in high school, but not that much fun ;).

If the circumstance is significant enough (e.g. serious health-related issues, family emergencies, etc.), I think admissions would give him a break as long as he improves by the end of the year. But then again, I’m not the adcom, so don’t quote me on that.
