I just graduated this year with a BS in Neuroscience and am hoping to find some kind of entry level job pertaining to bio or psych. The problem is my gpa is subpar and I don’t have any relevant research/work experience in bio or psych. I do have work experience during the summers of past years but they consist of canvassing and office jobs that I don’t think would impress prospective employers in those fields very much. I’m really not sure of what my future plans are. Look for an internship instead to finally gain relevant experience (unfortunately many of them are looking for previous research experience themselves)?

The best way to get a job at graduation from college is through the college’s Career Center. Have you try that? It is a little late as most companies start recruiting graduating senior in October thru December in the previous year (the Fall term of the graduating year). You might start with some employment agency to see if they can find you something temporary so to build your working experience.

This won’t help you but it may help others: why didn’t you accumulate work experience in your field while in college?

You might want to consider contacting an old professor that knows you and likes you. Maybe you could work in his lab to gain experience. It probably won’t pay well, if at all. However, research experience will help you move on in your career and doing that is better than doing nothing.
