2 C+'s sophomore year

i got 2 C+'s sophemore year…but in AP classes. I am african american too but that doesnt matter. My freshman and junior grades were great (3.9’s uw) and my midyear report is a 3.9 uw. I was deferred at BC and UNC-CH. Does anyone think the midyear report will help turn a deferral at those schools in acceptances?

I had 2 Cs and a few Bs in my sophomore year.

And I’m Asian :D.

Since your GPA should be pretty high now, I think you don’t really need to worry too much.

If you have details to update, I think you should follow up with a letter.

Thanks for responding. What should i write in the letter? Do letters help much?

Since you got deferred, the structure of your letter could be:

Introduction about what’s included in your letter

Explaining recent awards, etc.

Elaborating once again that you still consider the college as your top choice and why it is; this has got to be very detailed and passionate

Conclude nicely, and end with “Thank you for your time and consideration.”

Deferral tests your desire. I really think that you’ve got to do everything you can to convince your colleges that you honestly want to get in. And a genuine letter would do that.
