2 high sat sections, 1 low

what would stanford look more kindly upon, a sat score of 2140 in which 2 areas are very high and one is fairly low, or a 2140 where all scores are mediocre?

cuz mine is 800 w, 740 cr, and 600 m. my major would be in the humanities and all my ec’s are connected to the humanities. i’m still really afraid that the 600 m will kill me. but some of my friends said they got overall lower sat’s than me and got in. but i’m not sure if it’s like…they got 710’s across the board or something. anyway, has anyone ever gotten in with 2 high scores and 1 low?

I have the same question. I suck at math too. (And I’m Asian. Go figure.)

somebody got in with a 1700

They want all your scores, anyway, so send both. :)

I am also in that same position. 780 m 780 w 680 r. Hopefully it all works out for the best.

what about the other way around?

800M/720CR/640W for a Comp Sci/Mechanical Engineering sort of person

It doesn’t sound like that’ll matter too much. Yeah, they’d like it to be higher, but the only thing comp sci majors need to write well in is java.

^so then you think the same might go for me? cuz my major at stanford would be american studies, so would the 600 in math be so terrible?

yeah, definitely. Your essays and extracurriculars are going to matter a lot more than a score that doesn’t contribute to your area of study.
