That forum is kinda dead…

So:

1) Should you take AP Environ Sci if it is one of the two science AP classes offered at your school?

I heard schools think AP E. Sci is a joke class and won’t take the student seriously if they take it. But I also heard that schools like students who try to take the hardest classes available

2) How much homework for AP Language, APUSH, AP Calc AB, AP Bio, AP Chem, and french2 on average per week

thanks!

I can answer the first one. You should take APES if it’s one of the hardest classes offered at your school.

Teachers are different at each school. You should ask your upperclassmen about each teacher/subject :P

I’m taking enviro right now. Seriously the most useful class I’ve ever taken. Everyone should take it!!

AP Language - Had to analyze a passage now and then. Did an essay (1-2 pages) every couple of months. Most work was done in class.
APUSH - Had to do detailed study guides per chapter. But I’d not good in History
AP Calc AB - BEST class in the world!! :'D I loooove calc <3 Material is really easy. Usually did like 5-15 textbook questions every 1-2 days depending on how easy the material is.
AP Bio - Brute memorization. The Bio AP test has the lowest passing grades in all of AP subjects. I recommend it only if you don’t mind memorizing a whole lot of crap. Lots of notes.
AP Chem - This is all about concepts and not math like Chem 1. It’s really hard and it is the hardest AP test. The material isn’t really that bad but if you don’t study it’s a guaranteed fail. Lots of notes.
French2 - You mostly learn more types of conjugations. Really easy :'P

Good luck in highschool!

If envi sci is really one of the hardest classes then you might want to, but I personally strongly dislike the class. The material is mostly logic and, at least for me, I feel like I sit there everyday and learn nothing. It’s just common sense. That being said, unless your teacher likes to give you busy work, you probably will barely need to spend any time on this class.

AP Language- If you have a good teacher then this class can be one of the best, but if not…

APUSH- fairly straight forward AP. The AP test isn’t too bad, but your teacher may not be able to cover all the material by the test time. You may need to cover extra material on your own.

AP Calc AB- just make sure you’re pretty good at Calculus or else you WILL be spending hours a week on this class.

AP Bio- time consuming, but not too difficult. Just memorization

French 2- really not difficult.

AP Chem- never took it, but if you’re not very good at chemistry then this class is known to be pretty difficult and time consuming at least at my school. Hard AP test.

This schedule is reasonable if you can handle the course load. If you’re not strong in math, chem, or english then you may want to take out AP calc, chem or lang. Honestly, hours per week depends on you.

Kannalala:

For the second question… OMG YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. Now I’m really scared about AP Bio and AP Chem! Some students told me AP Bio is really easy if you are good at Biology (which I am :D!) and AP chem is a new course, so no one took it… But I’m pretty good at chemistry. Is AP Chem hard because chemistry is a hard topic? A lot of people at my school fail chemistry because it’s hard… So is that why?

Lagging:

From the juniors this year, the AP Lang, APUSH, AP Calc teachers are really cool and helpful. So basically, I’m taking those classes for the teachers. Again, AP Bio sounds extremely scary because of all the memorization. How much do you have to memorize on a scale from 1-10. Like I said before, I’m pretty good at chemistry. But does AP Chem make you remember a lot of formulas?

Wow… I just realized I’m just rambling on and on… XD Thanks for the answers!

I have taken every AP science class and I do not want you to think that AP Chem is a horror! I loved that class more than anything! It is worth the extra work and can place you out of a lot of beginner chem work in college. Just don’t rule it out. I promise, it’s entirely possible. :)

Pretty much all of AP Bio is memorization. If you’re good at that then it won’t be bad. Maybe a 7 or 8? Really its the most memorization of all classes offered at my school.

I didn’t take AP Chem so I couldn’t tell you, sorry!

It all depends on your teacher. This is not the appropriate place to ask that question. Ask some former students.

You can make guesses, I’d generally say an average of 15-45 minutes per night is average for an AP class. Harder classes may have up to an hour or more a night, while easier classes may have less than that in a week.

The only way you can find out for sure is to talk to your teachers! When you have some spare time, find out who the AP teachers are for each subject, and go up and ask them how much homework you can expect each night. Don’t worry, they don’t bite. :)

@x101steph8: How was AP bio taken cocurrently with AP Chem? Good choice? Please respond soon because I need to give in my schedule sign-up TOMORROW

@cortana431: I did. And they all said, “ehh. It depends on their mood”. They didn’t really give a good, helpful response

@Rob1995: haha… thanks for the info. I wasn’t sure at first :p

Well I did not take AP Bio and AP chem together. I took AP Chem by itself Junior year and am taking AP Physics and Bio together this year. I feel like Chem and Bio would be fine together. As long as you have the time to do the labs and study for Bio, I would say take them together and take Physics by itself because it is the most challenging! Bio is a lot of memorizing but totally doable!

Okay. Thanks Steph!

Sounds like your teacher doesn’t give much work
(how can they be in a bad mood all the time?)
