2 Questions (Recording Studio and Work Study)

well title says it most i guess…Does Columbia have a recording studio tho? Looked on the site and couldnt figure it out…

Secondly, how are work studies assigned? Is it like a random dispersement or is it possible to request to be taken on by a certain professor or whatever? (I worked with a leading guy in music engineering over the summer which is how the 2 questions fit together)

actually lets bump this to 4 questions:

3) how’s the food, really? I mean the actual cafeteria stuff, not the a la carte points stuff.

4) just out of curiosity, when it snowed that insane amount in NYC this year, did classes still go on? cant imagine they would stop but it was like 30 inches of snow! = O

Even if Columbia doesn’t have recording studios (which I don’t know the answer to), there are TONS of studios in NYC that would, I’m sure be wiling to take you under their wing for an internship, and possibly a paid one.

I have no idea about the food, lol, and many high schools cancelled classes durign the blizzard, but I’m not sure about Columbia.

They’re not “assigned.” There are certain jobs on campus that qualify as work-study. You apply for one of those jobs (not that they’re the least bit difficult to get) of your choosing. If the music guy has a work-study job, you’d email him and ask to work with him.

Terrible. Columbia’s food is the worst dorm food that I’ve experienced.

There was a storm for one weekend. It didn’t affect classes. When there’s a storm during the weekday, Columbia will probably shut down classes if the rest of the city shuts down everything.

Ok found a class that seems what Im looking for but I cant find an email for the instructor anywhere…any students able to help me? Looking for Terence Pender…

course: http://www.columbia.edu/cu/bulletin/uwb/subj/MUSI/V3630-20061-001/
