2 small questions about applying - please help!

Okay, so after reading the .pdf with all the instructions, two blurbs confuse me. First is the letter of rec:

“Do not print and copy one evaluation form for both teacher
evaluations. Make sure to print the Teacher Evaluation 1
and Teacher Evaluation 2 forms separately and affix the
appropriate mailing label to the envelope for each.”

This may sound dumb, but I viewed both the evaluation-1 form and evaluation-2 form from commonapp, and they look exactly the same. Why does Stanford make it sound like they are two completely different forms? And if evaluation-1 is NOT the same as evaluation-2, then how do I tell which is which?

My other question is about the SAT score report:
Your official test results must reach
Stanford no later than November 1 for Restrictive Early
Action, January 1 for Regular Decision, or March 15 for
Transfer. We cannot accept pho

The thing is, the scores for the December SAT tests are not available until, usually, December 20 or so. And from my experience, sending the score reports usually take 2-3 weeks to get to the university - which, if they start sending by December 20, will reach Stanford by January 3-10. Sooooo how do I ensure that the reports will reach Stanford by January 1st? Do I need to use the express mail, or will Stanford allow the report to be about 1 or 2 weeks late?

I dont know the answer to your first question… but I think if you just follow what they say itll be fine. I wouldnt worry about it otherwise.

As for SAT scores… just make sure you request that your scores be sent when taking the test. It should be fine if you do so

The forms are actually not identical. One is marked Teacher Evaluation 1, and the other is marked Teacher Evaluation 2 at the very bottom. It’s just an organization thing.

Good luck!

I see - thanks huliaj. And Ykim, thank you for the good luck :D.

However, I cannot spot the “teacher evaluation 1” and “teach evaluation 2” at the bottom - maybe I am using the wrong form? From where did you get the evaluation forms?

I got mines from commonapp, under “school forms”, where originally there were no link to download any forms (due to my school I believe). I inputted my teacher names but NOT their email address, so the website automatically forced me to download the forms online to print it out and personally send it to the teachers. Now, I am looking at the .pdf forms, and they look exactly the same! There is no “teacher evaluation” at the bottom; the closest thing is “TE”, but on both forms the first page has “TE-1” and the second page has “TE-2”, so I dont think this is it.

Please help… I’m getting kind of nervous =P.

p.s. is it just better to email them the evaluations, instead of physically printing them out and mailing it to Stanford?

edit: Help! Im panicking again!!! Regarding the 4 free score reports, from collegeboard.com:

“a cumulative report of all scores that are available and reportable at the time your request is received will be sent. View your <list of=”" scores=“”> that will be included in the report."</list>

I clicked on the <list of=“” scores=“”> hyperlink, and they only have the score report up till the november tests. Furthermore, they phrased it confusingly: “… all scores that are available and reportable at the time your request is recieved.” Since I’m requesting them right now (December 1st), they dont have my December SAT scores. Then, since they mean “at the time your request is recieved” and I am requesting it now, does that mean they will only send the scores from November to earlier? No December scores? Help!!</list>

Okay, I had the same problem with the evaluation forms. They’re exactly identical. I just printed them separately in case I missed something, but they probably mean make sure that whoever you noted is your teacher evaluation 2 puts their recommendation in the envelope with the mail label that says teacher evaluation 2 and etc. As for the SAT scores, I’m not 100 percent sure, but if you send them now without taking the December SAT, then only your scores up to Nov. 2008 will show. However, if you want them to send your December scores, then you have to add stanford to your college list online.(there’s a place where you can send it up to 4 schools for free, etc.)

About the SAT scores, thats the thing - what I quoted in the edited section of my post (not sure if you saw it, I edited it kind of late!) came from the 4 free school section. And it seems like they are only sending the score at the time you requested it - meaning now, meaning only the November scores and no December scores, right? Or am I just reaind it wrong?

I don’t know about the SAT scores but the CommonApp forms are identical. The TE-1 and TE-2 at the bottom are just page numbers. I had mine handwritten, including the part about the applicant and it didn’t have my CommonApp ID anywhere. I downloaded them off the Download Forms section and they were processed by Stanford. So I guess its no problem but just to be on the safe side, invite the teachers and then download the forms from the school forms page of your account.

Plaknas, hopefully your situation is okay… I think I read somewhere that they wanted our CommonApp ID in every page of the evals… =\ Did you put your ID there by pen, or did you just leave it ID-less?

I didn’t put it there by pen or anything. They didn’t say that they are missing any necessary forms/credentials.

Oh, neat. So they aren’t that strict about it :D. I feel much relieved right now. The only thing I worry about is the score reports… am I just reading too much into that one line?

Does Collegeboard offer priority sending rates for SAT scores? I’m pretty sure that the ACT had an option (more expensive, of course) where you could make sure that your scores reach whichever schools most quickly. Might be worth looking into…
