2 year or 4 year?

I’m going to be going to UC Riverside next year, majoring in Electrical Engineering, but I’m having my doubts, the school doesn’t really get me hyped at all and i was wondering if i should try for a 2 year to go to a better college next year, like USC or the naval academy.
I got a 3.4 in HS and a 31 on the ACT, and am reasonably fit, and maintained 2 leadership roles in school organizations in HS but found USNA too late to apply.
Should i continue to UCR or go to a CC?

If you “transfer” to USNA you will still need to spend four years there.

^I know that, but I dont really have a problem with it.

Regarding UCR or CC, I don’t have an answer. However, I do have something that you should think about:

Regardless of where you go, either UCR or CC is going to be significantly more difficult than high school. Higher ranked universities would be even more difficult. If you consider UCR to be anything less than your dream school, then you are going to need to get significantly better grades in a significantly more difficult environment compared to how you did in high school. If you don’t think that you can do this, then you should be very happy to have gotten into UCR. If you want to transfer to USC (assuming this means “Southern California”) or any comparably ranked school, then you need a LOT of A’s, and almost nothing else.

To add the obvious: This means attending ALL classes, paying attention, keeping ahead on reading, doing ALL homework early before it is due (preferably well before it is due), and seeking out help when you need it, or even if you are unsure whether you need it.

You haven’t even stepped foot on campus yet. Why not keep an open mind and give it a try?

I think there’s a common misconception that you 1) have to be all-in passionate or “hyped” about where you choose to go to college, and 2) if you have any doubts it means that it’s wrong for you. In reality, it is very common to have doubts about anything brand new that you’re embarking upon, even if it was carefully considered and you were previously excited about it.

Go to UCR. You can always transfer later if you really don’t like it, and schools like USC like to take transfers from peer schools.
