20 for 2020 RESULTS?

I enjoyed the 20 for 2020 lists I read early in the year. I haven’t found the thread again. (I DO like the new format, but I don’t sign in very much so don’t look beyond my usual threads.)
ANNNYWAY… I just came across my 20 for 20 note, which I had not looked at since… Feb maybe? I didn’t have the greatest success but here it is:
(I only did 10 to even try!)

Eat out 20 lunches: 0 unless you count buying takeout sushi from the grocery to eat at home. I used to eat lunch out with friends but in the past few years they have moved or died.

20 situp, 4 days a week. Pretty good until July or so. In October I had surgery involving my stomach so haven’t done one since October. But was glad I did have SOME behind my belt.

20 podcasts. 0 I am too impatient to listen even though, in theory, I think I might like some.

20 minutes sewing 4 days a week. Nope, but I did quite a bit of crochet so that counts for me.

Eliminate 20 things from closets. YES. easy. more than one closet even. … of course, we were looking to move so I had major motivation

20 segments on Ridge Trail. -1- We had about 200 miles in and I’d like to do more, but we are far from the next segments.

Send 20 greeting cards/letters. I think I got this one, especially if ecards count. I signed up for american greetings ecards and tried to email a few thinking of you notes to lift people’s spirits.

Do one 20 miler day. nope. I think 13 was the most we did.

Make 20 instant pot meals trying new recipes . (DD got me an instantpot cook book and I was going to work through it). I think I did maybe 4 or 5 new things. I am not the most interested in cooking cook…

So how did the rest of you do?

I’ll have to hunt for my list. Will report back!

I tried to hunt for my list a few months ago to evaluate. I made one, but didn’t post it. No success. Guess I’ll be adding some type of organization tool or method to my 21 for 21 list!

I had mixed results, mostly due to Covid.

  1. Continue taking Chinese ink brush class once a week in NYC
Class moved to online, but I did keep up with it.
  2. Go to a museum after class since I never do any work when I get home anyway
Last went to a museum in February. Last in person class was March 4.
  3. Paint regular watercolor once a week – minimum 3x3 (good Instagram size)
I’m sorry to say I did not keep this up. But I did do some.
  4. See 1 movie a month – preferable a new release
Last new release I saw in a theater was Parasite. I did eventually see Emma, Little Women and a handful of others on line.
  5. Read 50 books
I’m up to 43, so a little behind schedule.
  6. Say no to doing any legalization architectural work
Just did one. A contractor who begged me to do it.
  7. Say no to potential clients I don’t like on the phone
I’ve done this and fired one client. Getting rid of nightmare client was the best thing I did all year!
  8. Exercise 3x a week and find a tracking system that works for me
I’m not convinced I’ll ever like tracking, but I do at least log it in my Daily log so that I can organize it all eventually if I want to. I’ve been pretty good about the exercise piece. We went snow-shoeing today!
  9. Speaking of tracking, make my Bullet Journal work better
This is still a work in progress, but three years in I can say I haven’t found anything better for me.
  10. Eat vegetarian on weekdays
This got waylaid a bit by the fact that we’ve also been supporting local restaurants with takeout, and most of them aren’t vegetarian. But I cook mostly vegetarian.
  11. Track food for one month
I tracked for about six weeks.
  12. Start a book club with two old friends who were PTA presidents with me
    Sadly this is not happening.
  13. Or at least play board games with them (see them every other month minimum)
    This didn’t happen either.
  14. Update will, now that we finally know what our assets are
    Still putting off this one.
  15. Set up a “When did I last ___?” page in Bullet journal, for chores, doctor appointments, car stuff etc.
    This worked surprisingly well.
  16. Hike at least every other week if weather is over 40 degrees and it is not raining.
Actually we have been doing short hikes (2-5 miles) at least once a week, sometimes more often
  17. Have a wine tasting party
We had one in February. Since then gone to some virtual wine tastings, but not with people we know.
  18. Work on expanding friendship group, probably by getting to know people I like in the neighborhood better
This is almost impossible to do now.
  19. Get a mini-split AC system
    Got it!
  20. Put a water feature in my garden so I can qualify for a Certified Wildlife Habitat® sign
Did it. I’m also officially a Healthy Yard and a Pollinator Pathway.

Focusing on the positive, since obviously this was not an ordinary years. Looks like I accomplished 4/20 maybe 4.5

  1. Organize closets
  2. Get closet organizers for master closet
  3. Close all three rings on my iWatch 5 times a week on my watch.
  4. Try a spin class (got a Peloton).
  5. I wanted to go out to lunch with my mom 4 times, and we didn’t go out, but we do have lunch in her backyard once a month.

  15. Read 20 books. Finishing up #45 now.

I thought of this the other day (I had started the 20 for 20 thread) but it made me a little sad to bring it up again since I figure most of us had several list items that became a no-go because of COVID. I will pull out my list and reevaluate.

AND I intend to make a 21 for 21 list! I’ll start a new thread! And this time I’ll be taking COVID into account since it should still affect us for awhile…
