2008-2009 practice math question

You guys remember that question with blocks and m and the firehouse? I still dont understand question 18. m distance of 3 must lie on a square? I dont understand this one. Anyone remember it and how to do it?

ya wanna sorta…you know, type out the actual question?

yeah, its a circle, radius of 3, infinitely many points,u connect them, becomes a circle

huang- i dont think typing will help but just for you.

All of the buildings in the town that are m distance of 3 from the firehouse must lie on a

A. Circle
B. Square
C. Right Isosceles Triangle
D. Pair of Intersecting Lines
E. Line

Ren- the answer isnt circle though

oh then its a square since u cannot go diagonal~~ lol the Q says that we have to follow the lines right? so connect the dots … its a square

and im answering this by memory lol…

Yeah, I remember this one. A circle would go THROUGH the houses. Since you can only use the road (which is in the form of a square grid), the figure that you obtain is a square. ;)

In case Ren and uttaresh sound too cryptic:
Since the buildings can be located in the grid knots only, mark the grid knots that are three unit segments route/u away from the firehouse.
“connect the dots”.
