B.Com. 2009-2010: FINAL EMPLOYMENT RESULTS
I’ve read far too many threads regarding “huh? which is better?!?” , so here’s some direct evidence in place of that circumstantial rubbish thats too often the case at CC. I <3 numbers.

I havn’t done any calculations yet, but based on what I glanced over, it looks like Desautels is not doing too bad at all in finance. However, I think that individual talent is the main determinant of career success, not the school you went to.

Here’s Wharton thrown in just for kicks:

^^ “I think that individual talent is the main determinant of career success, not the school you went to.”

I agree but the school you go to may open up opportunities that you cannot imagine as a high school student. When I entered Desautels in 1995 (it was just the Faculty of Management then) I was leaning towards accounting. I sort of wandered into international business courses, found them very interesting, and made friends from all over the world. I ended up working in international business with a French bank that required extensive travel in North America and Europe. It was a far cry from the accounting job I imagined having when I was 18 years old. The international nature of Desautels is a major influence.

If you are planning on getting a job on Wall Street or Bay Street at age 18, you may have a totally different goal by the time you graduate. If you can get into Wharton, GO! If not, then choose a school that provides opportunities.
