^Agreed (I only knew one of the three terms (palindrome), but I, somehow, managed to figure out the cyclic quadrilateral one). By the way, good job on those scores Mifune and everyone else.

i see you are all dedicated to the confidentiality of this test for w.e reason. if anyone has it in their heart to relieve me of the stress of this question please PM me. thank you (promise i am not a spy for late testing schools)

I knew all 3 terms as well as the product symbol.

I think cyclic quadrilateral should be something everyone should know and should not need to be defined since if you do not know what one is, you will not know the properties even if it is defined, rendering it moot. I think a palindrome should also be obvious, but I think they should have defined it as it is not really a math team.
Monic and the product symbol I think they should’ve defined.

We have been told that some schools on the east coast were snowed out again (a problem we don’t have in San Diego ), and will be taking the exam officially on Thursday. So, we will not be unlocking the AMC forum until Thursday afternoon, and you should not discuss the test on this site until we do so

Yeah just read this, we should hold off PMs until tomorrow.

What were the answers to the complex number, toad jumping 1 m, and a+b+c+d+e problems? Please pm me if you think you know the answers. Thanks!

Sorry, I got a 94.5, my bad :p

Has anyone taken both 12A and 12B? What is the difference in the difficulty level of the two? 12A was a super low cutoff…

I answered 14, but I made stupid mistakes and got the first two wrong. Even if the rest were right, there goes 100…

Hey guys, we really shouldn’t be discussing answers here.
I’ll open a meebo chat room, if you guys are interested.

@nonemus

The 12B was harder than the 12A in my opinion. So i’d imagine the cutoff will be just as low if not lower. You should be fine.

Hey Vaeliant, can you open a chatroom? That would be better than posting on a public website. Thanks!

And also, the 12B cutoff won’t be as low as the 12A cutoff because the pool of competitors in the 12B is generally more talented than that of the 12A.

I do not think that we should be discussing answers at all, unless they are very specific questions. Some people have yet to take the test, and I have received a PM from some random guy requesting answers, with out specifics and context. It would be unfair if someone were to take unscrupulous advantage and know the answers for the exam. I think we should hold off till a couple of days.

I agree. Let’s hold off until AoPS is unlocked.

stix: no way, the 12A was much harder…

Yeah.
Somebody PMed me and said that CA and NJ schools still have to take it, so let’s just wait and sit tight.

I did considerably poorer than I usually do on AMC 12s though. I think everyone dropped a few points.

Ummm it’s 8 pm in CA and 11 pm in NJ, it’s unlikely that anyone’s still taking the contest in those states. That said, it’s important that we hold off on discussion until AoPS opens up again (esp. because of states like Alaska and Hawaii).

I thought the B was at least as hard as the A, if not harder. My score went down by 16.5 points on the B.

“IMPORTANT: We have been told that some schools on the east coast were snowed out again (a problem we don’t have in San Diego ), and will be taking the exam officially on Thursday. So, we will not be unlocking the AMC forum until Thursday afternoon, and you should not discuss the test on this site until we do so.” - quoted from AoPS

Someone needs to lock this thread and delete any criminals posts immediately.

@Wharton The AMC is allowing some east coast schools to take the AMC tomorrow because of snow days on both the A and B dates. This makes it essential that no answers are disseminated, as this could result in unfair advantages, a higher AIME cutoff score, and disqualification of scores

I totally agree with you; that’s why I suggested that we lock this thread.
