2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

I got an email acceptance from WashU DBBS (neuroscience) today!!! I am psyched!!!

that makes 3 acceptances, and 4 more interviews…

@ hamster09

Was not invited for an interview. I think that my low GPA and test scores made the difference. I am extremely strong on the research side (8 years of post-graduation research with 8 publications). I dont know. Did you interview??

Does anyone know the post-interview acceptance rate at Harvard MCB (MCO specifically)?

@Serric

It’s been a while since I PM’d you. I’m not sure if you did receive the message. Did you get it?

@Bernsted: That is potentially good news…I would love to hear from them! I had started to give up hope based upon the fast approaching interview dates, and now I will just have to wonder a little longer! Thanks for the info.

@TP53: sorry to sound negative, but 8 years is too much. if i was on adcom, that would raise a red flag for why you took so long to apply. in other words, seems like there is a commitment issue to have waited for 8 years, even if ur doing research. 2-3 years of research post-grad would be the norm for non-trads…

and btw, harvard bbs’ hard deadline is coming up. don’t know if they already sent out all offers, but might as well wait! gl all!

Wow, you would think research experience and dedication to the profession would outweigh book learnin’. Best of luck to you, TP53 :)

From Harvard BBS admission officer:
Unfortunately, all admissions offers have been made at this point so if you haven’t received a phone call, email and FedEx package already then you have not been admitted to the BBS program.

Have anyone heard back from UMich last interview weekend?? The interview was pretty good…but I’m so worrying that whether I am accepted.

Apparently Rockefeller is not finished? I received an acceptance package today via FedEx.

(Edit)
I’m pretty shocked that this application cycle ended up this way for me. At the risk of sounding arrogant, this is pretty kickass.
Applied: UCLA, UCSF, UCSD, USC, UNC CH, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, U Chicago, U Penn, Rockefeller, NYU, Weill Cornell, and GSK

Interviews: GSK, Weill Cornell, U Penn
Declined: All others.

Accepted: GSK, Rockefeller.

for all those interviewing on the East coast north of Virginia this weekend: looks like there could be a nor’Easter Friday night into Saturday night…current computer models have this storm comparable in strength to the December nor’easter that dumped 12"+ of snow on most of the same areas.

looks like i might be trapped in baltimore for a while. ah well.

@telojennie

harvard bbs - sound bad… does that also include the international applicants? i haven’t seen any int get an acceptance at gradcafe and they told me couple of days ago, that the replies will come in feb… :S

PSH! A dusting!

@caulobacter:

I think I know who you are…

Is anyone getting nervous about interviews on this weekend because of the weather forecasts?

gremot: I am an international student and I heard back from Harvard-BBS in mid Jan.

@oncogene

thanks for sharing… did you do your undergrad in states though?

Whatever the weather will be, it will probably be warmer than Toronto! Haha :)

Princeton Neuro tomorrow anyone? I am so excited.

@ daybyday

I thought by working for a few years and getting some really good experience and publications that it would out weigh my grades and scores. Then my wife started Med school and I sacrificed to put her through. Its my turn now. Will wait and see if USF and Miami give a shout.

Hang in there, TP53geek.

Good luck, safetypin!

Hey, I’m wondering if anyone can tell me the situation in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology @ Duke. Are there many domestic applicants this year? Have they finished interviewing the domestic applicants so far?
