Thanks for the advice, this forum really helps. I have a strong bio background and GPA but my GRE was not so great and I have less than a year of experience in the lab, so that may be a factor. But I have friends in the same situation that got into great schools so its been hard for me.

@hoyaphd, Cookys

My situation is that I have a strong bio background but didnt have good GPA and GRE score. I graduated in 2003, but have been working in academic labs since then. Have been published 8 times with a couple of 1st authorships. So I am wondering what they are looking for.

Beats me…hopefully its not over til we get those rejection letters so keep some faith. That’s what I’m trying to do at least. It may be in vain but its keeping me sane…sigh…

I’m at a med school for my PhD, and I have only interacted with a handful of MD students in almost four years. Their presence doesn’t impact my life at all.

Is it a good idea to contact one of the PhD on the Admissions committee while they are reviewing your application??

has anyone who interviewed at Yale for neuro last weekend heard back already? and if so from whom? thanks!

@Hi i2likebrains

has anyone who accepted at University of Alabama ( GBS program - Neuroscience ) ??

About University of Massachusetts Medical School~
I found their research is awesome with many good scientists. Publication is also gorgeous, with dosens of Science, Nature,Cell each year. From this point, it’s even bettern than many highly-ranked medical center.

I’m just wondering why its ranking is so low? Confused.

@neuronguy

Totally agree with you. This place is really under-rated.

Has any international applicant heard back from Weill Cornell (BCMB track) after interview??

@Neuronguy, that’s why rankings for graduate programs need to be taken with a grain of salt. Much depends on what’s right for you. Sometimes a program will be lower in the rankings because it’s not strong across the board even though several areas within the program are world-class.

@vivalkm, yes - but I interviewed in person, not phone/skype. I got acceptance email Mar 1 (from faculty).

@vivalkm
one of korean student ( international ) received acceptance from Weil Cornel (BCMB)

@safetypin00 & Molly3785

Acceptance to Weill Cornell via email today!!
I’m so excited. :)

My son interviewed at Einstein last Monday/Tuesday (2/22-23) and got his acceptance email on Thursday morning 2/25. Word from an earlier post was that faculty meets on the Thursday after each interview session to make decisions. Good luck.

Congrats vivalkm!!! The waiting is over, ****tiest part for sure.
