2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

Why wait? If it’s virtual booze, we might as well start now. :D

Acceptance to Emory IMP via email today. I just interviewed on this past friday, the 5th.

Finally! I heard from Stanford today with a yes!! They called me in the afternoon.

So, the final update.

Interviews: Brown (declined), UW-Madison (declined), WashU DBBS, Columbia, UCSD BMS, Johns Hopkins CBI, Stanford

Accepted to everywhere I interviewed

Rejected: MIT, Rockefeller

Attending: Stanford!! :slight_smile:

Im so glad the process is done. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear (try not to stress too much, it doesnt help), and congrats to those who got acceptances.

@molliebatmit

We’re waiting to see what there is to celebrate first! It’s more fun with things to toast. :)

Congrats Amyrin! Hope I’ll be in a similar boat soon.

Has ANYONE heard from Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford?

Wow! Congrats Amyrin! Way to go…! Stanford was one of my top choices as well…but didn’t get an interview there…wish I had done a little better on my GRE’s…lol!

I am sure you will do great there! Happy celebrations and good luck with everything!

Congrats to everyone on getting acceptances…we are finally at the end of this process! Lets celebrate our accomplishments!!!

I haven’t heard from Stanford MCP either. :-(

Anybody else leaning towards MIT but not sure?

@lifesciencesgeek

I spoke with someone else who interviewed, and they haven’t heard either. So, either the three of us are the three who’ve been rejected, which seems bizarrely unlikely, or they haven’t told anyone yet. Did you send thank yous to your faculty members? I’ve heard so fast from other schools that I didn’t get the chance to until after acceptance emails. But this time it’s taking so long, I think I should or should have already…■■■

Hi MolBioPhd,

I did send thank yous. I sent thank yous to the 3 of the 4 schools that i actually liked literally within hours of landing. I must be interviewing at schools that took longer to tell me, my fastest was 3 days, my longest was 4 weeks (but they have a weird admissions process so they don’t really count).

I mean based on talking to the grad students, they take awhile to secure funding and such. No reason to panic. Is it your number 1?

ALSO, they were saying that they sent acceptances out in waves, so really no reason to panic! :-)

On the other hand, panicking is really what I do best. Didn’t discover that about myself until grad school admissions.

So, earlier this week, I was waitlisted for an interview by a school. Does anybody know what are the odds of actually interviewing are? I had no idea schools do this and have the sneaking suspicion it is more of a stringing along of applicants before an inevitable rejection.

@lifesciencesgeek

Number one…probably. “sent out?” As in mailing? Why can’t people just call? There are so few of us. Sigh. I wonder if they full appreciate the psychological toll. I turned in my thank yous. My guilt is assuaged.

@nutmeg

I think they leave themselves options for a reason, not to be cruel. It’s certainly possible that this late in the game, some people straight up will not want to interview anymore. If so, that could free up space for you, right?

Final update–

Applied: Berkeley neuroscience, Stanford neuroscience, Yale neuroscience (INP), UCLA psychology (BNS), Harvard psychology (CBB)
Rejected: Berkeley, Stanford, Harvard
Admitted: UCLA, Yale
Attending: Yale(!!!)

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Has anyone heard from MIT BCS after the interview? And if not, do you know when they will be contacting people?

Stanford MCP is officially making me crazy. Craaaaaaazy.

Actually, one of my friends got wait-listed at Stanford a couple days ago. He’s still hopeful.

^ Which is why anyone who knows they don’t want to go to a school should turn down their offer quickly!

MolBioPhd:

CHILL OUT! Go watch a movie or something. Really, its not that bad. They haven’t told anybody and they might be waiting on funding or Friday so they don’t get phone calls or something like that.
