@Jamezz93 A small one. If they are going to be up at midnight the one hour warning should be up in 20 minutes.

what website are u guys checking?
and whats the phone number to call?

@Tiffany Quite alright; I have Baseball Tonight to keep me company, along with Edna’s wonderful serenade if I get especially antsy. Well, I wouldn’t recommend doing it unless you plan on continuing it in college; it doesn’t seem very satisfying just to start a language without following up a bit (like I’m following up senior year, and I might even continue it, who knows? Oh, don’t I know the curse of people who can’t speak a language T.T I’m the only one in my class who has even the semblance of an accent…it’s horrible. One time in sophomore year, I was helping this girl review by saying a word, and she’d say the translation. She stopped me partway through to say “Um, could you say them…not French-like? With an English accent? Thanks!” -Shudders- Yeah Latin wouldn’t have really been able to survive if it’s as ugly as some classmates make it out to be; languages have to have SOME sort of linguistic ease…right? What do you mean by unnecessary words? And of course Latin has other merit! Like, people just think about it that way because that’s how it was for centuries upon centuries in Western history (but you know that already). D: You got to write a history on historical linguistics? Lucky! Mm I think people don’t give it a lot of attention because a) it doesn’t have as much relevance today, b) people remember the trials and tribulations of their high school Latin classes. Not everyone loves languages like us xP

@Matt I have nothing to keep me company. I’m stuck in a hotel room for the evening where entertainment is severely limited. I’ve got headphones in, though, listening to the second part of my name, Muse. Love their music to death. Ah, Edna’s lovely speech is a great way to pass the time, her sweet voice always there with the same enthusiasm as the last time you called! Good old, reliable Edna. I know what you mean all too well! I mean, there’s accent marks for a reason… USE THEM! I do know that a lot of people just take languages to fulfill the college reqs and not for the pure enjoyment some get out of it, like us. If it doesn’t sound nice, it really is horrible. Some people just butcher the language, so I’m used to it, but it’s not like I’m going to do it wrong and speak it the way it’s spelled. Unnecessary words like how no subject or pronoun is used in a sentence. To find out the subject of a verb, all you have to do is look at the verb ending and you know everything from a few letters rather than a few words. That, and there are ways to say phrases in one or two words. It’s a shame, though, that a lot of Latin’s recognition is attributed to that of the Holy Roman Empire rather than the Roman Empire of antiquity. As a non-religious person myself, I wish more people could make the distinction without automatically thinking of church Latin which is, in many ways, completely different. Yes! It was a hugely rewarding experience, especially with an older brother in the field to look towards for advice!
No, definitely not! This thread could easily be renamed “Reasons why Latin and French are BEAST”. Sorry, but Latin just HAS to come first. ;)

It’s past 11 and no one hour message…

@Tiffany Aw I’m sorry D: Is the cable sucky there? Not that much would be on at this hour…Ah, yes, Muse is good. Hysteria has a weird-ass video xD A couple of my friends have been sending me their stuff recently, and of course Guitar Hero got me into Knights of Cydonia. Hm, I think I’ll check up on the old girl now! GAH RIGHT? AND JUST BECAUSE ENGLISH IS 1/3 FRENCH, THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY SOUND ALIKE T.T. Open your R’s, goddamnit! Yeah, like, quite a few of my friends dropped Spanish for this coming year because they got “their three years” in. I literally stood there open-mouthed. Eh, but if the subject isn’t immediately implied by the conjugation, then the subject isn’t unnecessary. Like, for those two-word phrases/cases and such, having the extra words would be unnecessary, but that’s not true in the context of the language itself. An unnecessary phrasing would be, say, “Il a envoye a moi la lettre.” (Actually that’s not just unncessary, that’s just wrong xD) Really? There’s a difference between the two? I never knew ._. What’s an example? Uhh, I beg to disagree. French would OBVIOUSLY come first because French makes the world go 'round…

I’m going to give them five more minutes. Are we sure there’s a one-hour recording?

lol random thing just popped into my head? how many people actually call? like wont the lines be busy if we all just ring in at 6AM

I’m not 100% sure about the one hour thing

^^it’s all automated

@kww-the one-hour thing hasn’t been accurate over the last few days…why should it be accurate NOW?

Because I’m assuming that the reason they had the one hour thing at that time is because they’re planning a 6 am release time, which is supported by a rep from collegeboard.

When do people who live in the midwest get scores if we don’t call?

(In the mail)

^^Makes sense. Didn’t think about it that way.
Whatever. We’ll find out when it happens, won’t we?

@Matt Yes, very much so! Sometimes it’s fantastic, but then sometimes it dies or is super slow and, being the non-techie person I am, it is very hard to try and fix it. >:( Haha! I don’t even try and comprehend the meaning of that video but I’ve heard different interpretations. KoC is definitely one of their most mainstream songs. If you want, I can give you a list of my favorites (a lot of them aren’t as well known, and I’m an obsessive Muse fan at heart) which are amazing. A few of them have French in them!
Tell her ‘hello’ for me! It’s been a while for us, two whole minutes! In Latin, it’s the “pronounce your vowels right!” and “there’s two r’s for a reason!”. It’s a big pet peeve of mine when people screw up pronouncing words, particularly pretty words. I’ll try and find a better example of the less words thing… Time to open up some Vergil! Lots of pretty phrasing in his stuff. Slight difference in diction and what-not. Mainly differences in pronunciation- Classical Latin is much nicer than Ecclesiastical Latin, in my opinion. Au contraire, mon ami! Without Latin, there would have never been French! If the Romans hadn’t mixed with the Gauls, I shudder to think what French would sound like! So, OF COURSE, Latin must precede French in the naming of this linguistic thread.

its only 10:15 central…

Definitely try at 11:00 PM Central, as the scores may come out at Midnight Eastern.

6:15 in HI, I believe. :)

I can’t believe they deleted the old thread. Now I’m back to the 0 posts, because this was the only thread that ever caught my eye, and it was calming to know that others felt the same way about scores.

Anyways, 6am? So We have approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes left? woo, i can do it.

9:18 Mountain Time right now. I have a feeling scores may be released tonight at 12 eastern, but then again, it is truly unpredictable.
