**2011 APUSH Official Post-Test**

“Advocates of militant civil protest included Black Power groups like the ** Nation of Panthers ** and ** Black Islam **”.

■■■.

could some one respond to my post?

And why does it seem that “AP US CALCULATOR” is overly generous. I gave myself 60/80, a 6 on the DBQ, a 5 on an essay and a 2 on another. And i still get a 5???

curve is a 61 for 5.

@needshelp1212 My teacher is an AP grader and he says a lot of schools make APUS mandatory so the curve is insane. Licking the page will get you a 4/9. DW about it.

It’s probably overly generous because the no guessing penalty isn’t in account. I dont know if they added it into the calculator though.

@Java: ■■■■■

And really, the DBQ wasn’t bad at all. The documents were surprisingly helpful compared the documents in other DBQs I’ve taken and should have steered you in the right direction.

I went through the MC and skipped 19 questions that I was 50/50 On. If I get 10 of those right and 85% of the ones I answers that’s around 61.

For the DBQ I knew alot of stuff. Hopefully I get a 9.–Meh but it took 1 hour to write.

I had some good info for the 2 FRQ but my thesis wasn’t very developed at all. I feel bad for not creating a good one. Probably going to go anywhere from 3-5 and 4-6.

@FreeSoftware: The years specified in the question actually are inclusive of his entire presidency (a little more, actually). ;)

And yes, the APPass calculator has been updated to reflect the lack of a guessing penalty. It says so right on the page.

Okay so do I have the opporunity to get a 5/9 on the DBQ?

I didn’t bring in (detente, vietnamization, salt or china)
I wrongfully brought in some of johnsons policies (lying to americans about Vietnam war progress, thought it was Nixon)
Thought the gas increase was because of Vietnam
BUT
I did write a clear thesis

Any chance for a 5? I talked about all the documents but didn’t bring much outside. 4 pages (along with writing very small)

Class didn’t do any of Nixon, I thought I could get by in the multiple choice so I didn’t pay attention at all
bad mistake

so getting cut off in the last sentence of my FRQ is not going to hurt me?

What do you guys think will be the cut score for a 5?
The appass calculator uses the 2006 updated scoring sheet (with the multiple choice penalty no longer in use). The only problem is that 2006 had an unusually low scoring DBQ, with a mean score of about a 3. This one will probably have a 4.5 mean. That is about a 7 point difference in composite scores. Which would take the 111 and make it a 118.

But then again, They did make this test harder than the 2006 multiple choice. And more and more and more sophomores who shouldn’t be in the class are taking it (the ones not doing the work to score well).

Is a more reasonable cut score for a 5 like 115?

Do you think they’ll care that I forgot to mention detente and soviet relations? I also said Nixon reduced spending to combat inflation (which he didn’t really do). How many points will I forfeit for those?
And only discussed 3 of the prominent leaders, how many will that cost me for not including more?

MC - alright, there were a couple of specific ones I just couldn’t remember.
DBQ: Fine, though I never mentioned the terms d

Someone guess my score?

I’m only going to put the outstanding errors I realized post-test…

DBQ: Wrote energy crisis was because America refused to sell weapons to Iran, which resulted in an oil embargo. Half my essay was devoted to analyzing the problems of Nixon’s presidency, barely on his reactions because I read the prompt wrong the first time… ■■■. But I included investigator Cox, Saturday Night Massacre, Vietnamization, and some other good stuff.

FRQ 2: Horribly vague, and I mixed up Bacon’s rebellion with Nat Turner’s rebellion. ■■■ again, and that was my most specific/detailed part of my essay. FMLFMLFML

FRQ 5: Didn’t mention Garvey by name and included the back to Africa/Liberia movement under the second time frame… but I did mention MLK, DuBois, Washington, Malcom X, Rosa Parks, NAACP, CORE and freedom riders. I think I might’ve mixed up some actions of CORE or NAACP with SNCC though, now that I think about it… :(

How major are my errors?

Yeah, I had no idea about that either, I had a feeling it was the Yom Kippur War but I couldn’t remember if that was under Nixon or Ford (it was Nixon apparently) so that was the 1 document I skipped. So excited it was Nixon though! My entire class was basically crying from joy; we weren’t expecting something this good two years after the Vietnam question, thinking something closer to the gilded age. Omg so relieved!!

was anyone else really confused on how we were supposed to answer the dbq? i feel like i knew the topic really well, but it just said analyze how he responded to challenged, not necessarily how successful he was- i basically just did that anyway since it’s what i’m used to, describing the challenges he faced but making my thesis about his success in handing those challenges (i basically said he succeeded internationally but failed domestically and that’s what gave him his horrible reputation); do you think that’s ok?

same question as dlekdms, how much will they penalize you for incorrect information? like I accidentally wrote 6-day war instead of yom kippur war :frowning: :(

Nixon:
-Argument: he was, and I quote, “clandestine” and did anything for public approval
-1: Wars of Vietnam and the Cold War when he said they’d be at peace fast but then bombed them and didn’t even leave during his administration
-2: He passed some energy legislation but it didn’t do anything and oil skyrocketed
-3: Watergate screwed him, ironically seeing as in doc.1 he specifically told America that there was going to be a stop to political corruption (nice way to end my essay with that irony imo)

I used all the documents and argued the topic given, so will that information I provided give me a 8 or 9 you think?

Idk if that’s true though since I suck at history and I never read about Nixon, just that he wanted Vietnamization which I forgot what that meant

Edit: **** I FRIGGIN THOUGHT HE DIDNT GET THE TROOPS OUT BUT HE DID ■■■ NOW IM GONNA GET A 2

Alright so for the second essay i chose the analyze the growth of slavery question. My thesis was “Slavery became prevalent in the colonies due to the need of a new labor force” My first paragraph referred to bacon’s rebellion and how the indentured servants were not submissive. My second paragraph referred to the huge rice and tobacco plantations in the south and the fact that there wasn’t enough people to man that plantation. My last reason was that getting slaves was far cheaper than getting indentured servants. I know I bombed this essay but I was wondering what score I would get based on this essay. Also what would my score be for ap us if i got 73 multiple choice, a 5 on the dbq, a 3 on the second essay, and a 3 on the third essay

@ praying4luck I know exactly how you feel dude. I ****ed up the essays so now I might get a 4 even with a really good multiple choice.
